  1. Not me, but hoping it was a early call bc of the fellowship.
  2. Congrats readwrite! I'm from NY and Stony is a great place! What's your field?
  3. hey readwrite, did the letter give any info on how many apps/how many spots?
  4. btw guys, the tufts website is the one where there's an option to upload your photo. maybe there are increased chances if they like what they see haha
  5. i did get the email though, and no decision! so weird.
  6. Has anyone actually gotten into Tufts? I'm still stuck in application purgatory.
  7. Boots are worth a good cry, lest anyone think they're not!
  8. Still decisionless here too! I had to wake up early for something and I'm deciding whether to go back to bed or to refresh the site haha.
  9. i had an email but i don't have a decision. who the hell knows anymore!
  10. I'm from NYC, and that was a major deterrent for me when deciding whether to apply. I'm currently in a funded MA where I teach a 1/1 and sometimes I find that even class prep for 1 section detracts from my own scholarship. Though teaching has been an invaluable experience that I have overall enjoyed and wouldn't trade, I have to say, I'd love an acceptance with a fellowship year, to have a few semesters to focus more on me. In any case, one of the sticking points with CUNY's funding situation is the travel time between jobs. Even if they help you find work you could be going between boroughs and that definitely doesn't lend itself to quick, easy travel!
  11. @seafoam- same. my email spot was blank and i got the email this morning around 9:30AM.
  12. This is driving me nuts. And speaking of Brown, I suddenly cannot access my applicant portal on Embark...
  13. My close reading skills will be the death of me. The email explicitly says that no admissions decisions will be given by phone AND that those admitted will also receive a packet via mail. And then there's also the question of what they mean by "shortly"...
  14. ah, seafoam. that's nerve-wracking. we applied to 6 of the same schools btw. best of luck!
  15. They do not post that! The person that said it is a umass undergrad i believe, so maybe they were able to find that out better than one of us could have. Actually, the subject test shouldn't be required for anyone no matter what their field, but that's another debate...
  16. I applied under 19th century British and American so hopefully they only halfway use my terrible subject scores;)
  17. Tripwillis, I had the same problem with my scores. I contacted Wanda Bak who was able to allay my fears. Perhaps they don't indicate both as received if they're on the same report?
  18. gah maryland, when will you notify? naturally i must obsess over this one since it had the earliest deadline...
  19. Hey poeteer, but I didnt think anyone got accepted or rejected yet?
  20. I don't think either contact or your recommenders having "connections" necessarily help. One of my recommenders is the sister of the chairperson of a very prominent department that I applied to, and my chances are probably still microscopic.
  21. Hey rzyhaya, sorry if I botched that- I'm on a mobile device and can't go back and see what your exact username is... I'm in an MA program now and applied to PhD programs. I'm waiting for responses but I definitely feel that it has strengthened my app. I've attended three conferences- one at my university, one regional, one national and have been accepted to an international as well. I also have taught 4 composition courses, and have gained an invaluable amount of knowledge through coursework. Also, I've defined my interests much more. We will see how apps turn out... PM me if you wanna share which MA you're looking at or have more questions!
  22. curious mind here too! i'm a native ny-er and stony brook applicant. but it seems weird, since their deadline was jan 15th...
