Looks like this subject matters least of all to the universities! -

Thanks, Clifford and good luck! That means I need to brush up my readings of performance theory. -
Some schools require only scanned copies of scores as well as of transcripts uploaded onto the online application system and want your official scores and transcripts only if they offer you an admission. You should read the admission website of each school carefully to know their exact requirements.

In your discipline, the Quantitative score of GRE will act as the first screening benchmark. But since you are an Indian student, your TOEFL/IELTS scores will be very important and for top-ranking universities, you should get a high score on the English test. Beyond this point, your SOP, writing sample, LORs, the expertise of the departments where you're applying and how they and you fit with each other will matter more than your scores, especially if you would like to get funding. What also matters is how you would like to use your US degree and how you justify your need for a US degree in your application. If you need more advice, you may PM me.

Clifford, Good luck for Brown and Stanford! Don't worry about NW - you have 2 acceptances and there is hope you'll get Brow and Stanford as well. Would you like to tell us about your Brown interview? What kind of questions did they ask and how id it go? -

More results submissions - UCSB waitlisted - dan0075 has claimed it on another thread. Brown interview (American) - One person has claimed it. Northwestern - Performance Studies PhD Interview - No one has claimed it so far. Q - 1) Would anyone like to claim the Northwestern interview above? 2) Has anyone heard from the Northwestern Interdisciplinary Theatre PhD program yet? -
Has anyone heard from ALCM, Minnesota yet?

Thanks, Vicki. As for UBC, I think if you follow it up with a research-performing/Directing-teaching Postdoc in the US, you should do fine in a US job. I have not applied for any of the schools above, but those who applied, perhaps can discuss some of the points that led them to apply here. If there are some who decided not to apply there, can perhaps tell us why they didn't apply there. Meanwhile Vicki, perhaps you can tell us what makes you select these programs. This can be a good "Waiting out on Performance/Theatre" discussion. -
Perhaps you can come and discuss on this thread, where most of us are gathered -

Thanks for that thread link! But read again - she doesn't explain there her rejection of Columbia and Michigan, after saying in the beginning that she is seriously considering them. She regards Princeton and MIT as not suitable for a liberal arts college person and Cornell as not desirable because it lacks rigour - why apply there then in the first place (I seriously doubt that Cornell Graduates think of their education there as a 5-yrs long vacation)? Anyway, she has got the program she wanted and I wish all the best to her. PS - I'm not a believer in the rankings either, but the search committees for academic positions believe in them and we have to play by their rules. Otherwise, I have seen some pretty dismal students from the Ivy League and some very good students from the "lesser" schools.

Another update - 1) Northwestern - Screen Cultures PhD - Interview on 28th of Jan (American), recruiting between March 1st-4th 2) Northwestern - Screen Cultures PhD - Invited for Interview 27h of Jan, recuiting between 1st-4th of March (Again, I didn't apply for this program, please don't misread!) Did anyone on this forum have these interviews? -
InquiliniKea, Some people find it very difficult to accept rejection.
-
Grunty DaGnome, Yes, I did!
-
Finknottle, the case you cite is quite credible. That can happen. But the case above seems to be completely different.
-
I think that's an unusually exceptional case, if it's correct. Never came across another one like this. I also find it curious that one should decline straightaway acceptance offers from MIT, Columbia, Berkeley and Cornell (and a wait-listed-turned-acceptance from Princeton) and wait for a wait-listed status to turn into an acceptance status at Stanford, while 3 Ivy Leagues and 2 great schools such as MIT and Berkeley wait to get a decision from the candidate.

Message from the Admissions Office - I got this message twice today and my heart skipped a beat - only to find out it was an advertisement from a school where I didn't apply. I wish they wouldn't do this. I am yet to hear from the schools where I applied.

Clarification - I posted the statistics from the results survey on this thread to ask if anyone from this forum had got the Brown interview, Berkeley acceptance and the Northwestern interview call. This was because at that juncture, we didn't know if anyone from this forum had posted them on the results survey. This has led some members to think that I might have got those interview calls and/or acceptances. I would like to clarify that I am not an applicant for any of these programs. I am sorry for any confusion my posts created earlier. -
Muxinshuang, Sorry, yes, I mean ALCM. Does your friend also have a focus on China? Yes, I applied to this department, though not with a China focus. Their deadline was quite late in January, so I don't hope to hear from them for another month or so. Do they take care to select applicants from all 3 regional streams - China, Japan and South Asia?
-
muxinshuang, Did you manage to enroll with funding at ALLM? What's your regional specialization there?

Good Luck to you too, Alh! I'm in theater, not in film studies. I'm preparing to hear my first rejection soon...
