  4. Quick update: this morning I received an award package from financial aid department with loans and stuff but no word from SSW. i didnt receve a notification about a deposit.... maybe i should reread my acceptance letter. I attended the information session Friday and it was really good i would be so happy to attend if i could get some financial aid.
  5. Gosh I hope not! I sent an email Tuesday morning and no response yet. I arrive Thursday to visit the campus for the first time and attend the informational Friday. I need to know ASAP so I know what to tell the other schools I've been accepted into. BTW My friend who was accepted into the school of public health for her doctorate didn't hear from financial aid until JULY!!!!!!!! ugh... that would be insane.
  6. Hey Costello thanks they sent me an email and a letter attached with the details of the assistantship and a form to complete to let them know whether or not I will accept it.
  7. I received a Monday from Dr. Vonk awarding me an assistantship, hopefully you all will hear back from her soon!
  8. I thought for sure I was heading to WashU but UGA offered a generous assistantship package and UNC is dynamite... sigh very tough choices.
  9. Strong recommendations, work experience and personal statements can give you a competitive edge easy. Be aware of schools that specifically state the minimum GPA required on their admissions page- my GPA for my last 60 credits was subpar however I was working 15 hour days and juggling a full time courseload I discussed that in my statement and had strong references and was admitted into 3 out of 5 of the programs I applied to, with assistantships.
  10. Hey guys any word from UNC regarding financial aid?
  11. I won't be attending the welcome weekend but I will be visiting the 12-13th since I'm out of state. I'm facing a tough choice I hope visiting will help me make a final decision.
  12. Torn between UNC and UW... waiting for financial aid information to make my final decision. If neither awards enough aid I will attend UGA (resident).
  13. Thank you for taking the time out to share your perspective. This is extremely helpful!! If I could visit both campuses before April 15th I would, unfortunately that's not feasible right now. Your post has inspired me to reach out to some current students and get some perspective from them. Thank you again! Any other views are welcome and appreciated!
  14. Ahh good point! Thank you for your reply! Any other views?
  15. No insight? Okay my next question is, how would you approach the decision? I'm sure many of you had to decide between two great programs to attend, what was your process? Any tips?
  16. As I wait for my financial aid decisions to roll in next month, I am trying to get a grasp on which school would be the best choice for me. Please note that it will ultimately come down to who is offering the best financial aid package. But in the mean time I would love you guys' perspective. Both UW and UNC have great clinical social work programs and are affordable. I have family/friend ties to both locations. And I will be applying for the dual degree in MPH (both reputable schools for as well) for both programs this Fall... I am having the toughest time deciding which program would be my #1 choice. Right now I am looking at their field placements, professor's research interests, and probing current students and recent graduates about their experience. Please share with me your perspective, any helpful insight, anything else I should consider while weighing the two options... I am open to your comments and thoughts. Thank you in advance!!!!
  17. Hello all! I've just been accepted into the Clinical Social Work programs at both UW and UNC. I fully intend on applying for their dual MPH degree programs and have decided to mosey on over to this section of the forum to gain some perspective about which University would be strongest for Maternal and Child Health concentration? What are the general sentiments about the strength and reputation two programs from a Social and Behavioral Science perspective? (I will be pursuing a PhD) Any insight into this would help me with deciding on which University I should attend. I don't know if I'm overwhelmed and my brain isn't working or just don't know what questions to ask. I appreciate your patience and response. Thank you in advance
  18. I have no idea. I know that the financial aid applications are due by April 1st so I'm thinking that by the end of April we should all know something about aid.
  19. Thanks Costello and congrats Min.Indy- now to complete these financial aid documents for both UW and UNC and see who shells out the most!! GAME ON!
  20. I just got accepted into UNC!!! WOW!!
  21. I saw two students submit rejection statuses on the results page. Both dated Monday and Tuesday of this week. Looks like decisions are rolling out. Best of luck to everyone!!
  22. Oh asking for an extension is a great idea! I was trying to get there before the 15th. So probably around April 8th! I am pricing tickets now... I'm sure the prices are going to be high (sigh).
  23. I'm still waiting to hear back from UNC but UW is my top choice. It will definitely come down to financial aid I'm qualify for instate tuition at UGA and they have an awesome (yet competitive) assistanship! However I am in Love with UW's program and I have family in Seattle and love the city (sans the weather). Kristin I will be visiting next month as well!!
