They're calling today and I'm freaking out. According to their site they take something like 12... I'm pretty sure I'm totally screwed at this point. My list might have been too top-heavy but still, this was one of my primo fit schools. Anyone else anxiously staring at their phone like me?

Another school that will probably notify everyone who applied except for me 200000 days later.

"I see you applied 2 years ago. Yes, we've finally decided, you've been rejected."

I used Sidereel. Many of the links they list are duds, but I was able to find at least one quality HD link for each episode.

I'm part of the 0-fer class. I'll take one acceptance. Just one. Any one. 0/6 is really putting a dampener on my already shaky confidence. I'm at the halfway mark... maybe the latter half will be some type of non-rejection?

Along similar lines, all the rejected people in the Brown thread are giving me the following feelings:
    1) Hopelessness. It is virtually impossible to get into an Ivy.
    2) The strong desire to give up hope on getting into any other schools. I know I should be happy with the acceptances I have (and I am very happy, don't get me wrong), but a few acceptances has given me a thirst for more, more. But my rejection from Brown has made me feel like it will never happen. Brown was my best fit (or so I had led myself to believe).
    3) Commiseration with the approximately five bajillion of us who were rejected today. And incredible envy for Mr. Grimwig, apparently in a cohort of one this year.

I agree! There have been some pretty cool Shakespeare film interpretations recently. That one and Anthony Hopkin's Titus (the Marcus/Lavinia scene especially was interesting) have been my favorites.

    Ah, looking forward to these.

Ah, agreed on both accounts. I love Holmes, and the Cumberbatch interpretation is pretty awesome.

I loved the Jurassic Parks, the Thomas Harris/Hannibal Lector films. I always tend to prefer the books, however.

I'd like to preface this by saying that I'm an aspiring medievalist, and have read approximately 3 new releases in my entire life. However, Johnathan Safran Foer's "Everything is Illuminated" will stay put on my top 10 (well, maybe top 20) list forever. But the movie fell OH so short - the film fails to navigate time as deftly as Foer does through narrative... not to mention the fact that I laughed out loud many, many more times while reading the book!

Maybe "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" will be better... but then again, I wasn't crazy about the book.

I just assume that everyone has read The Great Gatsby; if you haven't, do, it's divine. Since you mention Hemingway, I would have to recommend The Sun Also Rises.

I know we all navigate the Results boards like pros, and have charts and graphs (in our heads if not on paper) of when our schools will likely notify us of decisions...

However, I went ahead and emailed some of the schools I'm applying to. Here's what I found out, hope it's helpful! Feel free to add more if you know of more ETAs of schools! (Sidenote: the graduate admissions staff were all very friendly and helpful. It was nice to actually have contact with someone and remember they're not [all] soulless robots.)

University of Michigan (English and Women's Studies joint PhD - assuming English is similar)
"Decisions are still being made, and no notifications have gone out yet. We expect to have decisions and to notify students by next week." (received 2/8)

    Brown University, English PhD
"Thank you for your message. We expect admissions notifications to go out later this month and certainly no later than March 15. Applicants will receive email notification from the Graduate School informing them that a decision has been made and is available to view via the Embark online application system." (received 2/8)

    Rutgers University, English PhD
]"We will begin making offers after February 17th." (received 2/9)
(After the 17th is Presidents Day weekend, so I'm not sure whether they'll be notifying over the weekend or the next week...going to try not to obsess about that!)

University of Illinois, MA-PHD track, English
They said in their confirmation email that it would be early March, so I didn't bother them again

University of Missouri, Columbia, English PhD
They also gave a date in their confirmation email which I'm REALLY hoping is way later than they will actually notify - on or before March 31 (yikes that's late).

OKay so again - feel free to add if you know more! I find this information useful and anxiety-lessening. Best wishes to everyone!

I feel the same way. (Okay, maybe I'm most psyched for myself, but still.) I can't believe how awesome it is that we've done so well so far, and it's not even the 15th yet! Champagne sounds fabulous right now. In fact, I'm off to the bar right now. I have a couple of congratulatory (read: free) drinks waiting for me tonight.

There are three schools now that I can reasonably assume I've been rejected by (Duke, Stanford, Chicago). I'm okay with that. I just wish they'd let me know!
