  1. Princeton results out. I'm through All the best guys.
  2. I'm in a bit of a fix. It seems a school I applied to called one of my referees and instead of asking for her asked for me! The person who answered the call obviously thought it was a mistake and told the caller that no one by my name was available at that number. The caller neither stated where she was calling from, nor did she leave a message so I don't know which school it was. Has anyone ever faced such a situation in the past? I'd really appreciate some pointers on how to deal with this! Many thanks.
  3. Yep, just got a mail. All financial aid materials! Got a confirmation from their office too.
  4. I wonder what that means though. Does it mean that the deadlines of all the individual fellowships are also extended? Or do we just have more time to fill in the financial statement, if for some odd reason we haven't already?
  5. Also I'd just want to mention that if the school mentions 1000 that would seem to me like a cut off considering it isn't a very high threshold in the first place, but then again I don't know much about your program and you may be able to get through with the 990, and there I defer to Lox26. I for one would want my app to be a bit more competitive on the GRE front and would retake the test if I were you. All the very best.
  6. Retake. Practice online. Kaplan and Manhattan host two very good practice tests which you should consider taking. A week is enough time just as long as you don't let your nerves get to you. Download flashcards onto your smart phone or iPod and go through those whenever you find you have some time. All the very best.
  7. I referred to the Princeton review for the revised GRE. In my opinion, it was spot on when it came to the RC's and essays. The math was pretty basic. That said, it was just right for the GRE. More important than the books, however, are the practice tests, in the run up to the GRE. Also I'm reasonably good at cutting corners so I suggest you download Kaplan's GRE flashcards on your smart phone or iPod. A few good free online tests are the ones hosted by Kaplan and Manhattan. The Princeton Review online test was pretty useless and the one by McGraw Hill was the pits. The power prep software is good too. Last but not least, if you're hitting a road block with some of the math, try Khanacademy.com. It's especially good for the GMAT and it also clears up most of your GRE quant concepts. All the best!
