I checked mygre today and the scores for the October 15 subject test are already sent. I'm guessing the scores will be released early?

I applied last year to some schools in Europe, and they don't need any GRE scores. ETH I think is a top 10(?) school, so I don't know about your chances.

Hello everyone ,
I'm from Bangalore, India..applying to PhD programs in Atmospheric Science for Fall 2012..Still in the process of shortlisting places to apply to.. ..
Im pretty sure I can't get into the biggies (Princeton AOS, Harvard EPS, MIT POAC, Columbia EESC, Chicago GEO, UCLA Atmos, Caltech EPS, UW Atmos, UC-SD Scripps), but I'm applying to 3 of these, just in case, things "happen" ..
The trouble I have is choosing the right set of schools which are not in the league of the above schools but still pretty good that I'd want to go there.. ..and I've been stuck on this list for way too long..
All the best to everyone who's applying.. May the force be with you..
That is a LOT of smileys.

According to the GRE Website, scores will be sent from New Jersey so I think it would be fast. And I don't know if you're affected but the scores for the revised test is now being released earlier than expected.

The actual percentiles are slightly lower than the average of the estimated percentiles.
Quant
Estimated: 740-800 (79-94% Ave 86.5%)
160 (84%)
Verbal
Estimated: 550-650 (72-93% Ave 82.5%)
157 (77%)
AWA
4.0 (48%) - I don't even want to talk about this. ugh.

scores are out!

Habitually is an understatement. Although its faster to load this thread than check so I've resigned myself to just refreshing this thread. I figure people will post here within 5 minutes of them going up.
I'm thinking the scores will be up in about 3 hours and 15 minutes. haha.
-
Based on these scores, I'm expecting both my verbal and quant scores to be at the mid-80% range. and the writing section, ugh.

Haha, I can't stop refreshing my MyGRE page. (Why did I not take the exam a day earlier?)

Applying for inorganics/organometallics to: Johns Hopkins, Tufts, Chicago, Columbia, and possibly, Minnesota.

earliest score reporting date is November 8 so I guess they took it between August 1 and September 8. I took mine on September 9. I wonder when will the next batch be released?

So I took the GRE General Test last September and I sent the scores to 4 schools. When I registered to take the GRE Subject test for October, I also listed the same 4 schools in the Score Recipients.
Am I right in thinking that ETS will send two Test Reports, one with only the General test scores and the other with both the General and subject test scores? In my mygre page, each school is listed twice and I am confused.

So here's the thing. Page 117 of the GRE Prep practice booklet from ETS lists predicted score ranges based entirely on your raw score from the practice test. There's really little else to go on except a table on the preceding page which shows what percentage of test takers correctly answered each question. With that said, the range probably matches the best and worse case scenarios based on your raw score. The low-end means every question answered had the easiest weighting, the high-end every question a hard weighting. I reckon the computer-based exam is the same thing or near similar.
But that's for the Paper-based test. Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I've heard, the scoring for that is slightly different to make up for the adaptive nature of the computer-based test.

Yeah, I think I should. Thanks.

Hello!
I'm an international student, and I am worried if the Transcript I will submit is enough. My Transcript does not have a cumulative grade, aside from the fact that it is graded on a different scale.
Is this acceptable? I mean, how would my grade be compared to other students? I do have a separate certificate that shows my cumulative grade however, I am hesitant to submit this since this is not part of the requirements.
What do you think? Am I overthinking this?

I took the chemistry subject test. I have to say, the test was relatively easy compared to the practice tests (less computations). Inorganic chem was quite hard, and analytical chem was almost non-existent.
I just want to forget about this exam until the results arrive on November 25.

To those who will be taking the GRE Chemistry, this is a good resource.

I didn't know the 1995 version is also available online!

The week before the exam, I took at least 1 practice test in analytical writing (2 essays) in the morning so that I will be familiar with the time constraints and to keep the momentum going, so to speak. I'm not really concerned with the writing score but I thought a bad score will look bad.
I also took practice tests in reading comp to practice speed reading. The day before the exam, I skimmed through my vocab flashcards (I think around 3 to 4 words appeared, LOL)

Thanks! I still have Analytical and Inorganic Chem left to review. I am allotting 2 days to finish the Quantum Chem and statistical thermodynamics part (I saw these topics in the practice tests). I hope I finish all these with only a month left!
There is just so much content to digest, and to brush up on. I can only recommed you get your old text books and just hunker down.
I think for organic, a suitable review would be MCAT materials. I have some old MCAT books, I am using to brush up on my organic with, in addition to working back through the book. Also, for the PChem section, I would suggest breaking down the first three laws and all applications; which, should cover a good deal of it. For the Quantum part, brush up on all math up to Calc. III, or Diff. Eq. and anything you can muster up (Normalizing Wave Equations, Work Functions, Energy Transitions, etc.). I wouldn't expect too much Quantum from the PChem part beause you just don't have a calculator to do all of those tedious calculations and unit conversions with.

I am taking the GRE Chemistry subject test this October. Any tips?
-
It is really a draining test, it being 4 hours long. Did you get an extra verbal or did you get an extra quant?
I got an extra verbal section. The weird thing is, I almost ran out of time on the first verbal section while I have 5 minutes to spare for the 2nd and 3rd sections which I thought were harder than the first one (longer sentence completion, harder words, and longer passages).

I have just taken the GRE yesterday. The test is reaaaally draining.
Anyway,
I scored V550-650 and Q740-800 on the actual test.
Powerprep correctly predicted this:
V540-640, Q750-800 - taken a week ago
V540-640, Q750-800 - taken a month ago
looks like all the studying I did for verbal didn't work. haha.

I finally gave in and called ETS. My scores for the GRE Chemistry subject test is 840, 86%. Quite disappointed, but looking at the scores of the accepted applicants in the school I'm applying to this year, it seems that they accept even those with a 720 and reject those with a 920 so I guess it all comes down to other stuff such as SOPs and LORs.
