Had to be posted somewhere. Seriously though, I love Whitney. The first CD I ever owned was the Bodyguard soundtrack (and then Weezer's Blue Album). Sooooo many amazing pop jams. To anyone dealing with both this and grad school rejection at the same time, I seriously feel for you.

Ugh... I can't deal with not getting a call from Davis and the death of Whitney Houston in the same day.

I guess all we can do is just get as familiar with the program as is humanly possible, via the writing program website. I feel very lucky to already have a good chunk of experience, but I definitely feel I have my weaknesses and their writing program looks INCREDIBLY organized in comparison to the one in which I currently work. They have like TONS of resources. I guess that's a good thing, though. I wonder if they have one on how to grade papers more quickly.

No word yet, but I haven't given up hope. Weird that people were notified on a Saturday. I wonder if it was the same POI for both people.

Seriously. MD is freakishly quiet, except for like one McNair acceptance and one romanticist or something. Ugh, why am I still so tense about all these schools?

After some results board investigation, it appears that whoever wins the provost fellowship always gets an early mid-february call. We will all have to wait until at least 02/25. HOWEVER, I also noted that Tufts does not usually reject this early; they usually don't reject until early March, so that makes me feel much better about the chances of those of us still in this thing. Hmm... well, okay, so I guess don't stay chained to your phone; we probably still won't know anything til 02/25. siiighhh

Yeah, it was a shock to me. I am not expecting any notice until at least 02/25. It'll be interesting to see what happens.

Stately, I notice you were waitlisted at UMD. I haven't heard anything from them, and it doesn't seem like anyone else has either. Do you know what the deal is?

Yeah I'm starting to get freaked about this! Was not expecting this at all -- thought I would MAYBE get into one and then be glad to go there.

So guys, what do you think this interview is going to be like? I do have a good amount of experience, both in teaching and tutoring, so hopefully that helps. I'm just not sure what they're going to ask. Looking back, I thought my description of the good qualities of a teacher was good, but my end comment could've been better.

Was thinking earlier that I will probably go here unless I get into Harvard or Yale. Although, I still have some thinking to do and I need to know about funding. Also, Amherst is a cool little town. Buffalo is definitely out at this point. CUNY is an amazing program. Definitely a top choice.

Thanks for the info! Now I can stop thinking about Tufts for a little while and focus on Davis, Rutgers, and Maryland.
