I'm just nervous about Stanford because the email said that they would start notifying after 4/15... I don't know if I want to risk it.

Haha I just said the same thing about forcing a fit at Penn. At the time I didn't realize it was so obvious but upon reviewing it after my rejection I realized that it was sooooooo obvious. They had just cause to reject me . Sadly... lol

YES!!!!! It sort of feels random. You just have no idea if they are going to like you or not. And an acceptance at one school is NO indication that you will be likely accepted at another.

Ehh...totally understand. When I got my rejection from Penn it hurt a little but it quickly passed. When I went back to look at my SOP for Penn it really wasnt that strong. I know why I didn't get in. I really tried to force a "fit" there. My SOP for Michigan was significantly stronger than that for Penn. I guess I sort of already knew that I didn't really make sense there.

I just got, "Your request for a transcript has NOT been processed due to a financial hold." OMG!!!! It's the middle of the semester, people! So apparently, I have an application floating around somewhere that is incomplete because my school decided to send this email to me in a "timely" (sarcastic tone) fashion. This is NOT okay!!!!! > So sad...

Just remembered I have a great one. One of my "advisors" said, "There's no sense in applying to so many of the same kind of schools (I.e. competitive schools) because if you don't get into one then you wont get into any." I'm assuming that she was trying to tell me that I would not get into "any." This was only made worse by the fact that she told me to consider more "local" options ...like the place that she went to... :-/

Lol! Yes, it's so random how decisions turn out. I got rejected from Penn and waitlisted at Stanford. I remember at the beginning of this cycle I had an "advisor" tell me that I was applying to too many of the same kind of schools (i.e. competitive schools) and that it was a bad move because if I wouldn't get into one then I wouldn't get into any of them. I'm so glad that I knew better at that point and did not listen based on the amazing info I had received from Gradcafe. Though this is the same lady who told me to consider "local" options like the school she went too...

No, I was an "alternate" too. Sigh... Same email.

I had a pretty strong app too and I got waitlisted for POLS. I just think that they had a really strong applicant pool this cycle. At least it's not a flat out rejection. I'm not sure what the likely hood of getting off the waitlist , but be sure to reply to the email to say you want to be considered as an alternate. Or else they wont put you on the list...

MA or PhD?? I didn't get anything at all. That's strange that your status hasn't changed. I hope it's good news though!!!!!!! Crossing my fingers for you!
