if it makes you feel any better I have offered what I thought was bangup great advise but in reality could've led to some awkward moments. Please don't take anything personal on here ... try to treat it as an academic forum ... you aren't being challenged personally but rather the notion that you are presenting is what is being called into question (if that makes any sense)

Well now you have a back up plan to your back up plan!
-
Just to throw my 2 cents in ..... I wrote to 2 POIs .... one responded & offered to keep in touch ... the other has yet to respond & I sent the email almost 3 weeks ago so it's a crap shoot I think
-
you weren't kidding ... he really was humorless

Bah! Why didn't you?! From henceforth always ask ... "what would Sterling Malory Archer do?"
-
ooooo I was thisclose!

I can't help it (w/the excessive posting)... I presumptuously "retired" from my job and thought I would have WAY more things to do w/my free time but nope ... outside of reading books to prep I don't have a whole lot going on ... and yes I am aware my 22 year old self is furiously building a time machine to reek havoc and to exact his revenge for what I have done to "his" life

ME! ME! ME! ME!* If this hasn't swayed you from reappyling then I don't know what else will *it's not official but it is ALMOST certain that I will have to go the MA route :'(

If I am reading that correctly then it is probably a reference to the '40 Acres and a mule' promised to slaves following the end of the Civil War. It is (was?) the name of Spike Lee's production company, which was in reference to said promise. Be forewarned that if you eschew academia and return to your dark arts and mingle with your Slytherin-like brethren and sistern in said practices your ways aren't corrupted by the folks on here. They tend to be generally kind, caring, positive, and overall very supportive. Look to it that you aren't infected by these traits should you once again return to drink from the River Styx and practice Law

Well then my work here is done ... I will now take all the credit for her success and your future success of course
-
I'm so happy that you got funding .... and typical religious scam artist ... come in w/piousness and then as soon as they get the money ... ZOOM! PS (devout Catholic here, let me mock the Domers .... beats making racist Irish jokes, which I got all out of my system last week)
-
Well then I guess we won't be seeing you in these parts anymore
-
If you go the African History route, we have a young lady on here going to Harvard so I am sure you can inbox her for some top notch advise
-
I need both of y'all to stay positive ... just remember at the end of the day wherever you choose is the one that wins b/c wherever you aren't doesn't get to enjoy your brilliant academic mind
-
Me? I am just your average guy who went to a state school then did some stuff after college ... the closest I've ever come to being an adviser to this current president is when I stood next to his wax statue at Madam Tussaud's ...dammit why didn't I list that in my app?
-
I feel your pain!
-
do you have at least guaranteed fall back spots?
-
um I think you are in a GREAT place just hope that you're SOP & LORs are equally stellar ... the basic things that you can control from you're past are in the bag ... now hope that some of the current students who were such life savers like StrangeLight will come in to give real pointers
-
anyone else still in that nebulous area?
-
Right here ... this guy ... reality hasn't set in yet ... probably won't till the fall once I choose a school? Or if I even choose a school
-
I can't answer any of your questions w/a thoughtful answer except with a question of my own ... how sensitive are you to lawyer jokes? On an unrelated note, I don't think you need to have an MA to a be a strong candidate. I mean the SUPERSTAR of this past application undoubtedly was Safferz and I don't believe she had an MA but she got into all the ivies she applied to. I would say go back and read this post here because there are some good hints relayed in there for you and for anybody else applying

Sh*t people say when you are applying to grad school
oseirus replied to Clou12's topic in Waiting it Out
Maybe it's b/c she knew you got into FSU and wanted to subtly tell you how AWESOME it is to be a Nole? -
Sorry to hear that you feel that way. Did you speak to anyone prior to applying? If you'd like you can inbox me.
