Revolviendo y releyendo.
  4. I've applied to CUNY's MALS program too (like two weeks ago) after being rejected for the Phd in Hispanic & Luso-Brazilian Literature blah blah blah blah. The "priority" deadline ends in April 15, so I suppose its too early to wait for an acceptance/rejection. (unless you applied before november, lol) congrats to the people that got accepted!
Lolu
  6. are you sure? do you know someone that has been accepted/rejected/waitlisted? i havent heard a thing...i think i'm not screwed yet.
  9. BRAVO, Armadilla. msafiri? who's msafiri? I've learned to not take personally every offensive comment I see on the internet. A person who just "hunts for the $$$" (see msafiri's program) does not deserve a single response. I'm more worried for the initial poster (is that a correct term?) who seemed genuinely concerned about grading non-native english speakers and the whole "accent" thing.
  10. People, when were your deadlines? Mine was January 15 and I'm freaking out. And from this forum, I think I'm the only one who applied to Hispanic Lit at CUNY. I know it's been only a month, but I have no idea how CUNY processes the acceptances/rejections/waitlistings.
  11. gracie123: There are professors and there are PROFESSORS. Love the video, wildviolet. Although, we also have some letters with the same sound in specific cases.
  12. He reminds me of Before Night Falls, but honestly i haven't read anything from him. I'm more into southamerican contemporary poetry, the right mix of surrealism+existencialism+"innovating techniques-aesthetic" (more of a french influence, like almost everything). Although, I don't mind taking a sexual approach and use Bataille to explain erotic verses of a recent puertorrican writer. I guess that's my problem, not having an specific time or theme or literary theory to pursue something. I am absolutely sure that I will not study anything from the colonial era. I hate it. Poems have to inspire me in any weird way so I can try and figure out a possible explanation/interpretation. That's my only goal. Hello, I used Bajtin and Nietzsche to explain Alejandra Pizarnik's delusions. How crazy is that?
  13. which author? i'm curious.
  14. painfully inspiring, comfortably numb, it sounds like fun! (and artistic, of course).
  15. another brown "rejectee". dont you find funny the print option? who wants to print a rejection? to burn it later?
  16. thanks for clarifying it. i thought the first cuts were made by some sort of college graduate commitee and then the faculty. sorry, my english is a mess...i did finished it 4 years after dropping out...i took a looong break.
  17. having a 0% of an acceptance right now, i was wondering (and it's kind of a stupid question)...how the hell do universities process all the applicants? i mean, does the department in which we are applying for has a vote before the graduate commitee rejects us? i know is off-topic, but i need some hope. i'm talented, but i dropped out of college before finishing my BA and i'm thinking that might scare a bit.
  19. is it latin? seriously?!
  20. drinking cupcakes+eating wine=genius.
  23. whaaaaaaaaaaat?! i'm excited! how do you know? reviewing the websites, i think maybe i have a chance in CUNY...one of the "craziest" writers from PR had graduated there, coincidentally, the last book that i bought is from him...weird. -trying to get my hopes up- congrats cafeomuerte!
  24. couldnt agree more. nevertheless, congrats to the geniuses that have been selected so far.
