Second thoughts and panic attacks
stephanie.ms.antunes replied to MinervasOwl's topic in Waiting it Out
My second thoughts aren't so much going for my MSW and moving to a new city....I am actually very excited for that and I have no doubts in my mind that this is what I want to do. However, I am beginning to have second thoughts about my chances of being accepted to a school. When I first applied for my MSW, I had a lot of confidence and thought my chances to be really good. However, after reading all of the stats from last year, and all of the seemingly qualified people that weren't accepted, I am beginning to have second thoughts as to whether or not I have a chance. Basically, I went from feeling like a big fish in a small pond, to a little fish in a big pond. Anyone else feeling this way?? -

I hear ya! I have not heard from ANY schools yet, and probably won't until April. I am so envious everytime I see someone say that have got an acceptance. I just want to hear back...even if it's just one school. Hang in there though! Silence means we are still in the game!

Gradcafe has definitely fuelled my obsession, but at the same time I am so grateful I have somewhere to come and people to talk to who are going through the same thing as I am! Having said this, it's still probably pretty ridiculous how often I'm on this site....I think it's because I'm secretly afraid if I stop checking, I'll miss something important

I'm not going to lie.... I have definitely checked the results survey more than one time in a day...over and over, as well as my status on the University website. I have also searched the website for clues I know are not there... ...and checked on Sundays when I KNOW for a fact nothing will have changed... Waiting can drive us all a little crazy...or is it just me? What kind of funny habits or ridiculous things do you find yourself doing while awaiting the application process? Please share!

Waiting it Out on Canadian Universities - 2012
stephanie.ms.antunes replied to NoMoreABD's topic in Waiting it Out
I know that for York University, they have already sent out rejections for my program, I saw it under the "results" here at GradCafe, I'm not sure if that means they send all the rejections first, or if they are going to go back and forth...not really sure how it works, but I do know that I have seen rejections for my program thus far and no acceptances. Hope this helps! PS: I'm in the same boat, probably won't hear back until April I'm told....but if some schools are releasing decisions this early, they may be hope for us yet! -

Sh*t people say when you are applying to grad school
stephanie.ms.antunes replied to Clou12's topic in Waiting it Out
You're only applying to (insert low number here, in my case it's 3) schools? Aren't you afraid that you won't get in anywhere? You should have applied to more... Thanks for the confidence boost -
As a huge nerd who has taken a year off of school and is now missing it dearly, I cannot wait to hear back from Graduate Schools to make sure I have gotten in at least somewhere. Unfortunately, most of my schools have it listed on their website that decisions will not be made until April. Having said this, I am still checking GradCafe waaaay more than anyone ever should, as well as looking up apartments in the different areas, and checking my status online. ...This is not healthy, and I probably shouldn't be doing this for the next 3 months. Anyone have any advice on what they are doing to stop obsessing? Or is anyone at least as bad as I am? Feel free to post any thoughts, suggestions or advice here!

What will you treat yourself to?

As soon as I get accepted somewhere, my boyfriend is going to take me out for dinner and we're going to splurge! (We're teaching in Korea right now and trying to save money so it's actually a big deal to go out and spend money on a big dinner ) -
