  1. i would like in to if possible
  2. I am also interested in this topic. One of my recommenders asked me to write my own letter and I have no idea where to even start. Any advice would be great.
  3. I want to work in academia eventually but I think I want to go into government work first. I am currently getting a JD with a policy focus and a MS in curriculum so government is likely where my skills will come in to play most easily. Is the HGSC program your applying to a PhD or an EdD ? It sounds interesting I haven't heard of any programs that are a three year program focused on practice.
  4. I was thinking about the general one, I just wanted to make sure that you knew it was there. I am focusing on Ed policy but am not planning on applying to Harvard (I think it is a bit beyond me) that saying most of the ED policy programs fall under ED leadership so who knows maybe we will bump into one another. I am planing on applying at UPenn, BC, Boulder, ASU, and Loyola. Possibly one other. You ?
  5. Have you looked in the Ed forum? I remember a HGSE thread there.
  6. I am also heading down that path, i graduate this year with a JD and a MS in education and am hoping to head to a PhD in education in the fall. There are days that think I am crazy but I am positive (almost) that this is what I want.
  7. Have you thought about doing both? I am currently in law school and one of my best friends is as well and we are both working dual degrees her's is in IR. At my school most dual degrees don't cost any thing extra and wont prolong the length of time you are in law school. Just a thought
  8. No, It will be sent after the grading of the essay portion, It should go out the same day your official scores are available for you to see on the ETS website.
  9. I am wondering as I cruse different platforms working to finalize my school selections it seems that all of the enrollment data uses undergraduate GPA even though in the field I hope to continue in a Masters is almost always required. I guess I am wondering if a Masters or other advanced degree trumps the undergrad GPA or if that is really a deciding factor? Thanks!!
  10. I would maybe include a sentence or so on how your diverse background has broadened your world view and given you a unique perspective.
  11. I am currently studying in two different fields (education and law) in my education classes it is either a first name per instructor request or Dr./ Professor Last name, in law school it is ALWAYS Professor last name. The big difference seems to be level of education/ experience level a least in my experience. The older the instructor the more likely it is that they prefer the more traditional professor, I think that this stems from a time where not all instructors were expected to have doctorates and so Dr. would have been inappropriate. The younger the instructor the more likely they are to go by a first name.
  12. Here you go.
  13. I just took it this week and there were about 4-6 per section.
  14. Hi all I am also planning on applying this fall. I am a current JD/MS (curriculum and Instruction)(3.6/3.9) student looking in to Ed Policy degrees with a focus on educational equality and educator effectiveness. My undergrad is a well-respected education school and my degrees is in ESL/SPED education (3.3). I am excited to start the next phase in my education.
  15. I have a question I am worried about my low AW score on my GRE. I am applying to Education Policy PhD programs. I am a current student and should be graduating with a MS, a JD and CAS all of which require extensive writing I will have at least one publication and another in the works. Any suggestions on how / where to address my low AW score in my application?
  16. not sure if you are still looking but I am currently at Syracuse and can give you some ideas if you would like
  17. So I am nervous (big surprise) getting ready start really gearing up for the application season and i wanted to see if you have a bit of advice (or words of encouragement) . I have a May 2016 graduation date where I should receive a JD, a MS in curriculum and Instruction, and a CAS in Disability Law and Policy. I have one publication out for review and am in the writing process on another. My big worry is my AW score only a 2.5 (I can not spell to save my life so the no spell check on the GRE was difficult for me) the rest of my GRE scores are ok not fantastic Q-160 V-162 What do you think??
  18. What dose it mean when no one has heard anything from the discipline, I mean you a prestigious school and some of the other disciplines have sent word but nothing at all from mine ? As for the other school I know the school said they will be sending out their first round in mid to late March but when exactly does mid March start?
  19. Who knew that you could reduce a well adjusted happy adult in to a nervous mess with nothing but a couple innocent seeming non-informational status checks on websites. I am slowly going crazy, each new email notification on my phone sends my stomach on a wild ride only to find a group-on advert. Not to mention the exquisite torture that is going to the mail box. AHHHHHH I just want to know.
