I will look and see if I can find them. I have been keeping an eye on some of the science boards as my brother is also applying and I am almost as nervous for him as I am for myself. So I assume it is posted there. I would assume that as you are applying for a masters you might not hear back until after the PhDs and EdDs hear back but that should be happening soon so hopefully everyone will hear soon .

There is a rumor going around that I hoped I could get some perspective on. On some of the other UPenn threads it is mentioned that the status changes to "under review" from "ready to review" when the committee is actually reviewing your batch of applications. I was wondering if anyone had had their status change or if you think that this is truly just a rumor. Thanks!!

Since we are sharing information I received this from Arizona State " Your application is complete and will be reviewed by faculty in mid-January. Top applicants will be notified in late January, and subsequently invited to visit the campus on Feb. 18-19th for a series of interviews and presentations with faculty and current students. We anticipate making offers of admission by March 1st. "

Invitations to Apply..University of Maine
TheMonkeyOnMyBack replied to nicolemarriee's topic in Applications
Is there an email address in the letter? If so you could try writing to them and ask if there is a fee waver with their invitation to apply. It stands to reason that if they are interested in you that they might wave your app fee. -
Uggghh I am in the same boat. Compulsively checking even though I won't hear anything until mid-Jan at the earliest. It is made even worse by the fact that I help with admissions at my home institution and I know the students are on break so we are not reviewing files instead we are catching up on other things and the professors are grading finals then are on holiday so they are not reviewing ether. So in summery I am checking for something isn't coming( yet) because it doesn't exist.

Submitted Applications 2016 Entry
TheMonkeyOnMyBack replied to hippyscientist's topic in Waiting it Out
I hope that everyone's finals / work are going great! I thought that would post this as an idea for every one else, so I read at one point probably on her that you should unsubscribe to emails that you no longer read to cut down on stress. I started doing this today as I am already jumping at every notification even though it is way to early for me to hear anything. I am looking at mid Jan at the earliest :/ . I leave you with the hope that your invites and acceptances are speedy and early! -
ETS only downloads score on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Hope that helps
-
Many of the schools do receive the scores electronically, but ETS only sends scores twice a week Tuesdays and Thursdays(good to keep in mind for may fellow procrastinators) . So it is possible that many of your schools will receive the score quite quickly after they are finalized(10-15 days). So if your schools only accept paper they wont get them before your deadline. One word of hope for that possibility many programs (not all) accept documents after the due date as they understand that you have little to no control over this part of the program.

Right I am applying to jobs not because I want to work but because it is expected / it gives me something else to think about. Here is to hoping that we both only have good decisions to make. Ie what shoes match our orientation outfit!!

Stick to the prompt?
TheMonkeyOnMyBack replied to Sumanth_11's topic in Statement of Purpose, Personal History, Diversity
IMO I would stick to the prompt. Here is why, they word count that they gave you is very restrictive and you will likely need most if not all of it to fully answer the prompt. They asked you these questions for a reason and by not fully answering them you are basically telling them that you know better than they do on what they need to know about you to make a decision. Also I often wonder ho much of the nit-picky nature of grad applications is to see if we can follow directions. That being said there is no reason that if you have room you couldn't weave in some personal information as you answer the prompt. -

I am not but I am a current student at SU so if you have questions about the school or the area I would be happy to answer them. -
Could LOR be transferred from school to another?
TheMonkeyOnMyBack replied to AjjA's topic in Letters of Recommendation
I would be shocked if they agreed to do this and even more shocked if the other schools accepted them. Ideally the letters should be tailored to the schools to which they were sent, so even if this was possible they would likely not be as relevant. IMO you are better off contacting your recommenders and explaining what happened and asking if they would be willing to submit letters to the other schools you are hoping to apply to. -
How do you know that your LOR has the same sentence as your SOP? I would assume that the committee wouldn't take much notice possibly assuming that your recommender used the wording after s/he reviewed you SOP in preparation for writing the letter.

So It is starting to feel real. I received to emails this morning informing me that my application has been sent to the committee to review. AHHHHH!!! To temper that though I received emails stating that two of the schools have yet to receive my GRE scores (sent over a month ago) I sent then unofficial copies along with the score sent email and will call today to see if I need to do anything else. What about everyone else are you done?

I found this interesting and helpful. It is an info graphic put together by Magoosh that breaks down the average GRE score by discipline giving a mean, good and great score range. http://magoosh.com/gre/2014/gre-scores/

First I hope everything goes well. Have you thought about virtual office hours? I have a class where the Prof. holds office hours by skype. If you feel up for it it maybe an option.

GRE score order received but not visible.
TheMonkeyOnMyBack replied to something_stupid's topic in GRE/GMAT/etc
It can take up to 5 days to process and then mailing time. Although many schools now receive them electronically(according to ETS) so you can probably cut mailing time way down. If you sent them a while ago it might just be that your school hasn't processed them yet. -
I have a venting issue that I would also love any advice on. I selected one set of scores on the GRE to be sent to schools ( I am sure I did as they are much better than the other set) and the GRE seems to have sent the other set of scores not the ones that i requested. UGGHHHHHHH i will try again but now the schools have the other scores which I am not pleased about .
