  1. Agreed. So much pressure! And I wonder if they're expected to foot the bill for travel costs... I'm glad that there's nothing more I could do for my app right now, even if waiting is driving me crazy.
  2. Obligatory: May the odds be ever in your favor!
  3. Apparently University Of Cincinnati sent out interview emails for it's Philosophy PhD science track. Only planning to admit 5/10, no pressure! Good luck to those competing.
  4. Speaking of interviews... A friend of mine asked me why philosophy doesn't interview and I had no good answer. Thoughts on this?
  5. I was wondering about that. It could be under Classics instead of Philosophy, which would explain the interview... though odd.
  6. hmm I've never even heard of U Conn Storrs... hopefully more to follow?
  7. Deleted my last name off the account. Problem solved (I hope). I keep it public because I follow politics closely and I want my tweets to be picked up.
  8. No worries! Easy mistake, I made it myself until I got super compulsive and double checked, when I didn't hear anything.
  9. For the record, the MPhil submission for Cambridge, after a closer look, was posted on January 15 but the actual acceptance was on emailed on Nov 28. Cambridge has a few different deadlines, it looks like this was submitted for one of the earlier deadlines and notified in November. Students who submitted for the December deadline should not expect results until the first week of March, according to the results page. Just a heads up for anyone anxiously awaiting a response for their MPhil application!
  10. haha, yeah, maybe now's a good time to make my twitter private lol. everything looks innocuous to me... but who knows.
  11. Creepy! Thanks for the heads up. Good thing the first thing that comes up with my name is the Philosophy Dpt prize
  12. huh, I guess we'll see. Interesting.
  13. I expect it's a buffer zone. Just because it's the "application deadline" (to submit the actual application), it can sometimes take weeks for the letters, transcripts, gre scores, etc. to make its way there. I think the deadlines are such that they give it winterbreak to complete, and then they access in January. But that's my just thought.
  14. ^ I feel you. Getting through every new day with no news is like pulling teeth.
  15. Regardless of the school I just want the decisions to start rolling so that I can begin to live vicariously through those who are admitted.
  16. Read: Me. I submitted super early, and when I called to check that my apps were complete in early december (including letters, etc). I was told that I should slow my roll because adcoms wouldn't be looking at it even for weeks and weeks. I don't think it helped, other than to have the peace of mind early. I submitted some in October, November, and early December... and now I've been waiting forever.
  17. I guess you just don't know, I mean Stanford's deadline was 12/11, but they're not supposed to get back to us until mid-february. I kind of think that regardless of the deadline, it's a struggle until after the profs get back from winter break, and then it must take at least a month...
  18. I made the mistake of submitting in November. NOVEMBER.
  19. ugh I'm so impatient. is it february yet?
  20. I'm actually fairly surprised the UC Riverside decisions haven't dropped already, considering last year.
  21. Very interesting. I'm also wondering if a grad gpa is expected to be higher.
  22. No, but quick question - I'm applying to a few MPhils and I'm trying to grasp the structure of those programs. What was the duration of yours? / Was it taught v. research? Thanks in advance!
  23. If it were me I would go with Professor so-and-so. Spelling out Professor is an indication of respect. I know very view philosophy professors who prefer to be called "Dr."
  24. Hey guys, I'm from the US, but I work in higher ed right now. have any of you guys used WES? It's an international transcript evaluation service that basically will translate your transcript to a US gpa / degree. Just a heads up!
