Acceptance Freakout Thread

I honestly don't feel envious or put out. I want mine TOO but, well, I knew going in that might not happen and that I would absolutely need to be ok with that possibility. I didn't allow myself to start the process until I felt confident I could be very positive and ok with it. I also have not unappealing back-up plans, discussed the possibility of reapplication with my mentors, and a pretty great support network. Anyway, I am especially thrilled for the Wisconsin admits because I do know what it is like to want in there. Madison seems cool and I can only imagine how happy you all must be! -

The problem with getting up at 6 is that I am out of up votes by noon. Get it, Cady Heron. -

Beat. Me. To. It. Seriously though, I kind of laughed when I saw Wisconsin on the boards. The reasons, you guys! It was because of reasons! -

It is my responsibility to make sure my application is top 25 material. I don't find it personally productive to root for or count on someone else's failure. Being happy for someone else's success and sacrificing my own for theirs are very different things. One need not be ecstatic or self-sacrificing in order to be happy. -

This. The success of others has very little relevance to my own success/failure. If anything, feeling happy for others helps to sort of mitigate my own fleeting self-pity. ETA it is totally possible to feel two conflicting emotions fully and simultaneously. I also wish we would stop commenting on the healthiness or validity of others' emotions. -

Congrats! (Selfishly, I'm really glad there's some actual stuff starting back up again. I'm less stressed if there are notifications going out.) -

I saw that, my heart sank, I made peace with my assumed rejection and then I saw the date. February is going to be hilarious. Congrats to whoever it is though! -

I've done some logic stuff but am more of a stats person (I have firm roots in the social sciences). -

I know Michigan already has at least one person doing game theory. I decided back when I was still just a Political Science major that it wasn't my thing but I like when Literature gets a little math-y. -

I vote yes. Catch your dream, you guys. -
I worry about this because, like, what if they don't think I want it enough? Should I be checking it MORE? To answer the question in the title of the thread: no, not losing my mind at all, thank you.

But, but. They're hearing from Wisconsin over in Political Science and that obviously means something because of reasons. Edited to correct the discipline. -

Program Specific Questions - Fall 2013
practical cat replied to bfat's topic in Literature, and Rhetoric and Composition
That entire category was not there for me prior to this weekend. I checked my Buffalo status page for the first time since submission around the time the OSU news started and it was the same string of YES that it had been in late December. So my glitch (or whatever it is) happened recently which is what made me so panicky. Anyway, I am glad I asked (no more panic) and I hope we all get good news soon. -

Ugh, thanks. That was really starting to make me nervous. Glad to know I'm not suddenly missing something. -

That's my concern, two espressos. I'm glad I'm not the only one and I am pretty sure that bit wasn't there on Thursday/Friday. I can't figure out what they could possibly want? Mine also says not reviewed but previous years suggest that they only change the status for a rejection. (Though that doesn't mean that will be the case this year.)
