Congratulations on getting off the waitlist!!!!

I am really dreading the next two weeks....I cant seem to think about anything else....its consuming me so much that there isnt mush I can do....I just want this to be over so that I can get on with work....the school I am waiting on has not gotten back to me....I sent them an email over two weeks ago outlining the work I have been doing since the applications but no response.....this wait is insane!!!! I just wish people who have offers would accept soon!

it totally sucks being on waitlisted.....i check my email every 10 mins also...and I am getting sick of the feeling of not hearing from the school at all....dunno how long this is also going to ensue!

I woke up in the morning and checked my email and found my acceptance letter with funding....my boyfriend who lives in another city arrived the same day in less than 15 mins of me seeing the email....and that was the day we had planned to go for a weekend trip so it was a great day! it was a very sweet victory:)

I have been a social worker for 4 years now and am now going to do a PhD in social welfare. every time i tell someone what I do they immediately first talk about all the volunteer work they do or the money they donate (like i care) and then are like "is this something you study? is it a discipline? you actually can do a phd in something like this?" and then the inevitable-people will list a range of social issues that I should take up instead of my phd- blatantly middle class- i often just say i do research- so much easier.

@ruby most schools are having spring break right now no? I think it is ok to ask if a month has gone by.....

I just realised the school I am waiting on has spring break this week! Sucks! So no news until next week...im now thinking ill only know near april 15th....SIGH

I thought that 15 March would be some kind of point where I would have some (any) news on the waitlist....seems now I was just hoping....I sent my deposit to the school that has given me funding since they really upped the pressure...im thinking that there wont be any news until april? any of you out there got any new info on your waitlist status?

After I saw that acceptances were out I emailed the DGS who wrote back a couple of days later saying I was not accepted...so if you have not heard back your not in Im guessing...but email the DGS na...that way you will know for sure

We all seem to be in it for the long haul! Like someone said earlier I guess all of us waitlisters need to stick together

What bothers me also is that its super vague-she does not even sound like they are interested in moving me!

This is what the DGS wrote: "Yes, we receive so many applications for such a few spots - we much appreciate your continued interest in ****. It is always difficult to determine when and how many will be drawn from the waiting list (which consists of 4 applicants). As you know, candidates have until April 15 to respond to their choices - and there is much flux. I believe I will have a better idea late next week of what the likelihood is. We appreciate your patience. I will email again at that time - feel free to contact me as well." They had 5 spots! And I really really want to get in!

Even I have been told that mid march is when there MIGHT be some news! This wait is killing...I for one cant decide if I should send the DGS an email updating her with the work I have been doing since my applications were over....I dont know if it is too much but keeps bothering me since on this thread and others people have suggested sending LORs and letter of intent...cant decide whats the fine line between being pushy and not trying hard enough

oh that sucks! Sorry! Two are still left! dont give up....yet.....im waiting too....i read the email the dgs sent me about my waitlist chances (which she left completely vague) over and over again....i m hoping im not only stupid person left

Asking schools for feedback can be tough....I am an international student and got rejected last year from 5 sociology PhD programs....I emailed every one of them-the DGS to ask them what I could do to improve my chances-only one person responded talking about the challenges in funding for international students and my non sociology background. My friends who have had success in feedback are those that were able to visit the school individually and get oral feedback face to face. I thought I would share my experience- of course yours might be completely different! BTW I applied this year and have 1 fully funded acceptance and 1 wait list-so things do turn around if you dont give up!

this emailing the DGS to let them know that your interested is really tricky...even I keep wondering about being a nuisance....my DGS at the top school wrote an email to tell me that they took 5 people and have a non ranked waitlist of 4 people....now I wrote to her saying I had offers (which she knew about since I used to email her earlier about getting a decision!!!) and now she said she does not know what will happen...but says by the end of this week she should have some information for me and that she will email me and that I could also email her...now the tricky part is also she says that 'please feel free to contact me' I still dont want to pester...this wait listed business is terrible!
