Thanks for that info! And, oh, I will take it for what it's worth. I'm going to now swing fully in the other direction and think such hits mean nothing! (I wish that were true.)

Certainly not sufficient, right. But it's really the necessary bit that's concerning. I've got crickets. Maybe waitlists don't warrant that close of a look, whereas admits do. It's not a fun thought, and I probably should just forget it. But, like I said, hard to shake it.

As happy as I am for those folks with academia.edu hits, an uneasy thought keeps cropping up, namely, that such hits are a necessary condition for being admitted. I'd like to think that's false, and I have a hunch it is. But, still, it's hard to not be confronted with that thought.

It seems they might. Others were notified that they were near the top; I, sadly wasn't. Though, apparently, the waitlist is smaller than years past.

That's exactly what I was thinking of doing. It's really strange, given what they've released, that they would t just send all their rejections out at this point. I really don't know what to think about the situation. And I forgot thank you for your help. So thank you.

Rejected from Virginia. Suppose I should have expected this after the waitlists were released. So count me in @MickeyRay et al., I'm still anxiously waiting for an acceptance.

Useful news, nonetheless! In that case, @Nat_Foot, I would appreciate if you could contact them to see what the situation is. Does anyone else have some information regarding Virginia? Anyone think they have reason to believe they are done?

I'd like to hear from Virginia. It seems (though I could be missing something) that they've only admitted those nominated for fellowships, and then waitlisted a good handful. But I'm wondering if they've already sent out acceptances to those who have not been nominated for fellowships. If anyone has any information regarding this, I would greatly appreciate hearing from you. Or, of course, @Nat_Foot could contact them, which I would not object to at all.

I've also just checked the USC portal: rejected. Pretty bummed about this one. Alas. Moving on.
