Well I applied advance standing and have no where near y'alls stats so I'm guessing Im a rejections lol, so now if they could just tell me that would be Greatttttttttt

Don't be too nervous! A lot of applicants had way better stats than me but I got in for advanced standing. I think it truly boils down to the personal statement and practice example.

I was accepted!

I applied on 2/13 to the advanced standing program, policy track (contemporary social issues as my field of practice). They emailed me today at 5:17 pm.

Some stats for those who find it helpful: My cumulative GPA was 3.33 but my social work GPA was much higher probably around 3.8 though I'm not sure. I never got less than an A- in any of my social work classes. I went to NYU for my BSW. I held a variety of internships as an undergrad in the legal field. I also volunteered at a few different places which included working with holocaust survivors, youth and teaching a class for people who are incarcerated. I also always had at least two paying jobs at the same time (not including internships) while in undergrad to pay my bills and tuition.

I've been working at a public defender's office in NYC as a paralegal since graduating undergrad in 2015 and am now in a supervisory role there. I also work part time on the weekends with a youth soccer organization in E. Harlem as a youth advocate. After graduation I also started volunteering at an organization that assists people with their parole hearings in NY state.

I was open about being interested in going to law school in the future throughout my application in addition to discussing the many "adversities" I've been through in my life. I put that word in quotes because I think it's a silly way to describe obstacles folks have had to overcome but whatever. No one has really been talking about diversity here, at least from what I've seen, but I'll add that I'm a native Spanish speaker, I identify as Latina, my mom is from  the South Bronx and my dad grew up in Mexico. I wonder what, if any, bearing the admissions committee has been putting on creating diversity in their incoming class. I would hope they've been  intentional on that front!

Anyway..... I also applied to NYU and Hunter but haven't heard back from them and am 99% certain I'm going to accept Columbia's offer.

Lmk if you have questions.

Applied in February - because of recommendations my application wasn't complete until March 8. Received my acceptance March 22nd (day after my birthday)! Still making a decision though but I am super proud about being accepted. Background about me:

- Graduated in 2015 with BS in Early Childhood & Elementary Education. Been working as a teacher at a private alternative education center, working with children aged 2-5.

- Always been back and forth between mental health/psychology and teaching. Realizing that classroom teaching is not for me anymore, want to make more of an impact in a personal one-on-one sort of way, working directly with at-risk families, children, and parents.

- Besides teaching, I volunteer for Big Brothers, Big Sisters. Undergrad GPA was 3.2, but I think I wrote a very strong personal statement, so that must have helped me!

Good luck all!

So when do you think is the latest acceptances/ rejections go out by

Do you mean like in a given day? Or whether all acceptances have been sent out already? If it’s the first one, I think around 5:30 based on what I’ve seen on this thread. If it’s the second, I think they must be getting close.

Also, congratulations @TeacherTurningSocialWorker!!

Yeah I've been working full time and I'm also married. My wife works as well.

It isn't really fair to base it off that though because when we move I will be unemployed. Our financial situation will be so different! I received a fairly promising email from the dean on Friday who said I'll hear back about a "revised package" this week.

I am no financial aid rep but I’m pretty sure it has to do with those aspects :/ it doesn’t make sense. I’m glad you got 1k more but you deserve better.

Nonetheless, I love your dedication!! I will see you in seminar this summer if you’d like to connect!!!
