  1. It should be fine. I sent my check by mail then emailed them to tell them to keep an eye for my forms in the mail and they responded they will keep an eye out for it. Received the confirmation email like 3 days later that they received my deposit
  2. LMHCs have a difficult time getting hired for insurance purposes at clinical settings, from what I’ve heard from actual PhDs in clinical psych. LCSWs are more desirable, therefore it is a safer route to go than MHC
  3. Has any one received their financial aid package from Hunter yet? I'm curious how much they offer in scholarships (if anything) and what the loan options look like. I'm 95% sure I'm going to Hunter but I want to be sure of exactly what I am getting myself into before I put down my deposit.
  4. I agree. Totally understand your curiosity though. I would highly recommend against it. Just take it as a huge compliment and make sure they know how grateful you are
  5. Declined my offer today. Hopefully that can help fill up space for those still waiting. Good luck!
  6. Not difficult at all. Just be prepared to answer potential follow up questions when answering why hunter, why social work, and your related experience. If you’re a career changer (like me), make the connection clear (if that applies) or make the moment you knew social work was a better fit clear. you also get a writing sample- a bit dense, but not difficult. my best advice is to be yourself. Sell yourself while still being yourself. I could tell my whole group was nervous, but it ended up feeling more like a conversation. Also show that you can listen to your peers and be succinct and clear in your answers! good luck!
  7. It didn't really hit me until I got accepted to Columbia and NYU on the same day. Like, I grew up a poor kid, only child of a single, 16 year old mother. Was always "smart" and always did well in school without really trying. It was a proud moment when I graduated from undergrad (also the first in my family to go to any type of college!!), but it was a prouder moment when I called my mom and told her that I was accepted to an Ivy League school for graduate work. Even though I won't be attending Columbia, I'm so proud of myself. So it's hitting me now when I'm realizing the amount of loans I'll need to take out, while also quitting my job to complete a full time program. Eek!
  8. My timeline has been like this: submitted application on 2/8/18. References finally came through on 3/8, received email that my application is complete on 3/9. Received request for interview on 3/13. Interviewed 4/2. Accepted 4/4. Have seen that it really varies for most people. Some people applied in January and still haven't heard back... Good luck!
  9. oh! No I didn't say anything. My timeline has been like this: submitted application on 2/8/18. References finally came through on 3/8, received email that my application is complete on 3/9. Received request for interview on 3/13. Interviewed 4/2. Accepted 4/4. Hope that helps! Sorry you guys have been waiting so long... call and ask them what on earth is going on!?
  10. I know this is a year late, but I'm in the same boat now in 2018. What did you end up doing?! I'm Struggling between NYU and Hunter (mainly because of cost). Interested in clinical, with pursuing an LCSW down the line. Any advice helps.
  11. Hey guys! I had my interview this Monday 4/2, and I received my acceptance yesterday. So sorry for everyone who is still waiting good luck!!
  12. Leaning heavily toward NYU... it depends how I feel after the interview and if I get accepted but I feel most excited about NYU
  13. Leaning toward NYU, just have some more soul searching (and funding searching) to do
  14. Have my interview on April 2! Nervous, but excited. But nervous.
  15. Applied in February - because of recommendations my application wasn't complete until March 8. Received my acceptance March 22nd (day after my birthday)! Still making a decision though but I am super proud about being accepted. Background about me: - Graduated in 2015 with BS in Early Childhood & Elementary Education. Been working as a teacher at a private alternative education center, working with children aged 2-5. - Always been back and forth between mental health/psychology and teaching. Realizing that classroom teaching is not for me anymore, want to make more of an impact in a personal one-on-one sort of way, working directly with at-risk families, children, and parents. - Besides teaching, I volunteer for Big Brothers, Big Sisters. Undergrad GPA was 3.2, but I think I wrote a very strong personal statement, so that must have helped me! Good luck all!
