How heavily weighted are the writing samples? Chapman

Hi All!  So I had my interview at Chapman and was feeling confident about it until they emailed me a writing sample (I had to return within 15 minutes).  I'm pretty confident with my writing, however, this was on a specific topic that I was not overly familiar with  (even though I have completed 33 units of CSD classes).  In addition to that, I felt like the information they were asking for was very vague.  Any one else feel like this after the writing sample? Do you think a poor sample will prevent an acceptance?

How nerve wracking!  How were your GRE scores that they asked you to do this? What sort of question did they ask you? Was it situational?

I didn't apply here but I am so nervous reading these boards where interviewees are tested on their knowledge!

Congrats on getting an interview (I responded to your post about the questions on another thread)! My GRE scores were 151V/149Q/4W.   The writing sample was very odd, if I remember correctly it was on an adult disorder and asked to describe a specific treatment and how you know it's working.  Even though I've taken CSD classes, I did not learn enough about that particular disorder to provide an adequate answer in 15 minutes.

I really hope it there is not a lot of weight placed on the sample. I got the email to complete the sample in a time that was not ideal so I did my best but definitely had less than 15 minutes. I felt that I did awesome in the interview though. I was hoping there would have been a link to a page with a timer or something. Writing part was not what I imagined. Good luck!!

I spoke with a current graduate student in the program after my interview, and she was surprised by the prompt too. She mentioned that most people in her cohort didn't take an undergraduate course that covered the treatment we were asked to write about.

I feel like it would be more based on the quality of your writing skills rather than what you actually were able to say about the treatment! Hopefully at least! That sounds stressful!
