Hi everyone!

I've been reading through past and current threads and noticed School Psych didn't have anything for Fall 2020, so I decided we should have a place, too!

What programs are you all planning to apply to?  What criteria do you have?  Does anyone have any advice - because I need it!

I've completed my EdS but decided I'd like to continue on to get my PhD; here's my list so far: University of Minnesota, Northern Illinois University, Indiana State University, University of Kentucky, University of Wisconsin, University of Cincinnati, and Texas A&M.  Let me know if you're applying to any of the same places and/or if you have any thoughts on these programs!

I am excited to hear about everyone else's applications and how everything's going!

Hi! I was waiting for someone to start a school psychology discussion!

This is my first time writing on here. I currently am a working school psychologist with my Ed.S. I have been working for 6 years so I feel a little out of the academia game. I am looking to get my PhD in school psychology. @mcgonagal you have a good list! My list is: Northern Arizona University, University of Kentucky, University of Missouri- Columbia, University of Tennessee- Knoxville, University of Memphis, and University of Utah.

This is my second application cycle and I am approaching things VERY different this time around. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions (or tips!)  :)

Hi everyone!

I am applying to school psych programs as well this fall. I’m applying to the University of Florida, the University of South Florida, University of Arizona, the University of Virginia, NC State, and Chapel Hill. This is my first time applying for graduate school. It is a lot of work, but I’m getting there. I’m excited to hear how it’s going for everyone else, and I hope that we all get in to a great program!

@jeac96 With your personal statement,  make sure you articulate WHY you want to go into the field of school psychology. Highlight some of your background and what has brought you to the current place of applying for further schooling. Talk about potential research but really what I have seen is most schools want to know your motivation for pursuing school psychology and your "fit" for the specific program. I would spend time looking at each program and what makes the program unique. Look at the research of the professors and see how you align or fit in with the overall feel of the program.

Hi there! I'm a current PhD student at NC State. It's an excellent program that I'm happy to speak with you (or anyone else who's interested in it) about!

Hi there! Can you speak about the funding situation? Do they tend to accept outside credits from an EdS? Thanks so much!

I am anxiously waiting to hear back from my schools. I know some of the deadlines have not even passed but I cannot wait to know. My schools are:

-Teachers College at Columbia

-Ohio State University

-Michigan State University

-Indiana at Bloomington

-UW at Milwaukee

-Loyola University

-Northern Illinois University

-Central Michigan University.

This is my second round of PhD applications but first time for school psychology. I feel more prepared now as I am preparing to finish my masters in educational psychology and I have been working full time as a foster care worker. I wish you all the best of luck! Please let me know when you guys start hearing back from schools.

Everyone in the PhD program has full funding. Funding has never been an issue in all my years of being a student. We have funding through TAs, RAs, and we have an in-house clinic that offers clinic assistantships as a source of funding. I'm actually not sure how outside credits from EdS programs are handled, but I'm sure the program director would be happy to discuss that with you!

Comment on this if you get an interview invite from anyone at UCSB's combined program! Apps were due November 15th and based on past years it looks like invites start coming in as early as the first week of December ?

Did anyone else receive an email from Ohio State's PhD program today? I received one from a Graduate Associate Manager suggesting I apply for a GA position and the link to apply. The GA position applications are due by 1/19. Do you guys think this is a good sign?

Do you know if FSU has already sent out all of their interview invites? I applied to their Social program.
