Hello everyone! I just found this thread and I am so glad I did. I have applied to 5 schools and I am terrified about it all. I have received an interview invite for one school, which I am very excited about, however nothing from my dream school (University of South Carolina). I have no idea about timelines and what to expect from this whole process. Anyone else feel overwhelmed and anxious? lol

Has anyone had issues with Northern Illinois application?

I could not upload one of my transcripts and the GRE score, so I reached out to the grad office and emailed those documents well before the deadline. After Dec 1, I was getting notifications that my application is still "awaiting materials", and when I contacted the office, they assured me that they have my materials and will be uploaded for review with the department. Since then, I see that my transcript has been uploaded but the GRE score has not been, and I got ANOTHER email last Friday saying my application is still "awaiting materials". It must be crazy over there too, but this is not helping with the heightened sense of anxiety that comes with the application season lol. Should I email/call them again??????

If the office said you are good than I would take their word for it. It is possible with the end of the semester that they were busy and have not been able to upload all of the material but I am sure it was put in with your file. I had issues uploading my transcript and GRE as well. It kept telling me the document was password protected. I had to go in and save it in a weird way.  You could always call over there and just ask to check on your application. That way it does not look like you are following up on the same issue.

Thanks - relieving to know that I wasn't the only one having issues with transcript and GRE upload. I was hesitant to email them again because I had already contacted them about it. I'll wait and see; thanks!

For personal reasons, I only applied within Colorado.

I applied to the University of Denver, The University of Northern Colorado, and The University of Colorado, Denver!

Have you heard back from UNC yet?

I applied to the University of Maryland, University of North Carolina-Charlotte, and James Madison University. I have my Ed.S. and have applied to some other schools for other PhD programs as well that match my research interests. I have not heard from anyone but do not think I will hear until January, at the earliest, for some and maybe even February for others.

For those trying to figure out possible timelines, look up your schools/PhD program in the interviews section and base it on past information from previous years.

Not yet! Have you? I'm patiently waiting!! It seems like UNC got back to people in January last year.

No! I’m trying to be patient too, though rather unsuccessfully. I have received a couple of other interviews, but UNC is my top choice!

I got an interview for the University of Denver yesterday! (December 20th).

University of Colorado, Denver emailed and said that I'd hear back on Jan. 14th if I got an interview or not.

Still waiting for University of Northern Colorado

Has anyone received an invite for the University of Oregon PhD??? I am currently a Central Michigan University MA student but want to switch over to the doctoral program. I saw that one person indicated they received an interview invite 4 days after the application process. However, in the last 6 years or so, they have sent invites beginning of January. Do people ever lie on here? They were applying for the masters program, but the PhD and MA invites and rejections/acceptances have typically been the same time on here. I am just anxiously waiting for an email or SOMETHINGGG. The dash board does not say anything either -- it just indicates "pending" for department decision. Help please :(

I think it still qualifies as the "beginning of January!" I don't think people on the results page lie - but again they could I guess.  I don't see what the motivation to do so would be as it's anonymous?

I totally get your anxiety though! I've been checking every few hours in hope of good (or any!) news!  Good luck and I hope you hear back this week!

How is everyone doing with interview invites and managing anxiety? Are you hearing from your schools of interest?

I've received two invites so far and one rejection. I am anxiously waiting to hear back from five other schools. One of the invites I received was from one of my top schools. The interview is at the end of the month. It is the same time as this really important court hearing for work so I just do not expect to sleep much that week with all the nerves. I check this site way more than I should be during the work day but I am just so anxious to hear. My significant other is applying for Ph.D. programs in music theory so his anxiety adds to mine and now we are both just big balls of anxiety. I have been trying to throw myself into work to distract me. I have an app on my phone has helped easy some of my stress and anxiety. It also helps me wind down at night. I strongly recommended it to anyone who has trouble shutting down at night or just needs some midday relaxation. It is called "Calm".
