Liza_Ann_92 Posted May 4, 2020 Posted May 4, 2020 My test date is near the end of the month and I'm starting to get anxious. I've been reviewing consistently since January but I'm nervous about I still won't be prepared and my score won't improve. This will be my second attempt. First time was not good at all. My grandmother passed away 2 years and I wasn't mentally ready to go back into studying until a month closer to the day I took it. Studying the first time was not consistent. Had a lot of personal things going on, but I'm in a better place. Encouragement and positive words are much appreciated ?
futurespeechie96 Posted May 6, 2020 Posted May 6, 2020 Hey there! You're going to do great! I also did not do well on my first attempt but the second time I took it I felt better prepared because I knew what to expect. The best peace of advice I can give you is to not over stress about it just because you know you have to do better. Looking up short cut tricks for the quantitative section & doing practice essays so I could figure out the best way to organize/get the format down was also very helpful! You got this :)
lifeispeachy Posted May 6, 2020 Posted May 6, 2020 Hey! I'm sure you are going to do great on the GRE! I just wanted to drop in and recommend using gregmat.com as a studying resource. I really only used his material (plus the practice tests from ETS) and did very well. If you only have time for a few of his videos, I 100% recommend his writing videos. He breaks down exactly how to process the prompt and outline a response that gets you a high score. I scored a 5.0 on the writing with no preparation but his videos. My only other advice is to do what you know. I am much better at verbal than quant, so I really worked to optimize my verbal score. This helped pull my overall score well above 300, and I didn't spend time worrying about or studying for quantitative. Hope this helps. I believe in you!
