So it seems alternatives are starting to get bumped up?

Oh? Have you heard from someone you know or in another group? Any idea if it was for Flagship or general Boren?

I know everyone is winging it, but for people in the final year of their programs next year (graduating '22), are you willing to put off your graduation to stay matriculated? Wondering what I should do since obviously 2021 is not hopeful for most countries.

I am also eagerly waiting to hear from someone. I don't see the country I applied to having any issues so I'm like pleeeassssee universe...

So I'm a bit worried, I accepted my award, but didn't get a confirmation email or anything, and my portal on Boren is now empty. I also haven't been receiving any emails from my advisor in the past two/three weeks. Is this normal or should I be worried that something wasn't submitted correctly?

I also haven't gotten anything since the email with the FAQ and reminder to submit the survey. I wish there was more communication ?

I received, a email from the general Boren system today (but not my BorenAsia advisor) so that's hopefully a good sign that things are occurring

Well, thought Taiwan was going to a for sure go for this fall but the recent outbreak is not looking pretty. Have the people that were planning for the summer been told they cant go?

Yeah I'm pretty sure it's a while until foreigners can enter the country and then you'll have to quarantine for like 21 days so the summer program is practically impossible now.

I srsly wish we'd get the email for which countries are a go this fall. I want to get bumped up from alternate. 2020 award is unavailable for use because my program in Tajikistan canceled and the award expires this December.

Yeah I gave up hope for Fall in Japan a while ago. They haven't announced the cutoff for '21 awardees but I assume it will be like 2020 and we'll have until December 2022? Otherwise, I'm a little worries.

Ok I'm excited we can use the scholarship again LMAO

Wait "again"? Are you referring to 2020 cohort people?

Well I'm really hoping they do the same for '21 peeps and offer us a chance to start later. Because as of now they just say "you must plan to depart no later than March 1st, 2022". And I'm worried: 1) Japan (and other countries) won't even allow foreigners in by that time and 2) My plans kinda hinge on Summer/Fall schedule instead of Spring.?

The fact that they allowed extensions for the 2020 cohort despite being pretty adamant about it earlier (and likely facing restrictions with gov budgeting) should definitely make you optimistic that even if things aren't so great for the 2021 cohort by winter/spring, you'll still be able to to defer further.
