I know Ryerson sent out their first round of admits last week (I didn't apply to them, though) which is quite early since most are in March. Any news out of Canada? Anyone here get into Ryerson? ? Ryerson's program sounds amazing, I was going to apply but didn't realize they had a deadline in December and missed it. What other programs are you waiting for? Speaking of funding, did you apply for any or is it generally allocated with admission? TheTreePrince 1

lumptoast Posted February 17, 2022 Posted February 17, 2022 Just received admission to USC with a 25% tuition waiver. Does anyone know if it's possible to negotiate for a better scholarship? Paying 75% of 51k a year is way too much for a planning masters. TomorrowsParties and urban_geographer_planner 2

Good to know funding is offered automatically because I had no time to apply for scholarships and really need to start doing that if I get any admits. Btw I did the UBC SCARP interview last year so if you need any insight on the process please feel free to reach out any time! TheTreePrince 1
Quincy_Taft_Coolidge Posted February 17, 2022 Posted February 17, 2022 (edited) Hello All! Just got accepted to Cal Poly SLO's MCRP program! urban_geographer_planner Posted February 18, 2022 Posted February 18, 2022 (edited) @lumptoastI got the same offer from USC - 25% tuition scholarship (which eliminates it from a financial perspective for me, too). I know that you can successfully negotiate your finaid package at some places, but I'm interested to hear if anyone has insight about USC specifically. Age/Gender/Citizenship 21/F/US Undergraduate degree/School/Year graduated BA in Urban Policy / top 40 LAC / Expected May 2022 GPA - GRE - TOEFL (for Int'l students) 3.70 cumulative / 3.93 major / 3.96 upper division, no GRE Work Experience: 1 year as a research assistant in a multi-university urban planning study; 1 year as a student researcher doing original research on military urbanism for senior thesis; 2 research internships with community organizations; 2 internships with local government agencies; 2 years doing paid work on local campaigns; and 4 years of experience as a housing justice organizer (founded an activist collective with a pretty sizable following). Hoping these experiences will be impactful on my application since I'm applying straight out of undergrad. Letter of recommendations: (from whom) Research advisor, academic advisor (and chair of department's research institute), and another former professor. All three are in the urban planning/design space and should be pretty strong since I'm fairly close to all of them. Schools applied to: UCLA, Columbia, Harvard, The New School In: Out: Berkeley (02/18) Wait-list: Awaiting: UCLA, Columbia, Harvard, The New School Results: Out at Berkeley. Bummed but not surprised lol
