hopelessbuthoping Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 Hi friends, was just looking for your advice on if I should apply this year or wait until next year? I applied last year and got denied, my average is currently mediocre at 3.3 however since last year I’ve started a 1 year BSW program. I will be finished in the spring but I won’t have any marks from the program by the time they look at marks. I am expecting/hoping this will improve my last 2 year average as in the past I have done well in these classes and it bumps many of my lowest marks out. I have gotten more experience as I am completing a counselling and therapy practicum and have spent more time volunteering as a crisis counsellor. I’m just wondering if I should apply this year or wait until next year, money and time is tight so I’m trying to make a good decision. I do love social work but honestly have dreamed of doing both! I miss the science of psychology and where I live the pay is almost double for those with a psych degree.
clin.psyc.applicant Posted October 31, 2022 Posted October 31, 2022 Hey everyone! I am a current clinical psychology student at UBC-Okanagan ??, and I wanted to share this resource that we (the Psychology Graduate Students' Association, the Accessibility, Inclusivity, Diversity, and Equity in Psychology Committee, and current graduate students) have created to help prospective students with their psychological science and clinical psychology applications. This resource contains several personal statements and Tri-Council funding applications that were used by current UBC-O graduate students to gain admission into the program/ win national-level awards. We hope in sharing this document that we can reduce inequities in academia, and to increase the transparency of our program's application process. This resource is not meant to be used as an exact template or to be copied exactly, but rather to inspire students to write statements that best showcase their strengths and experiences! Please share widely to any students you think may benefit from this resource ? https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Uqy4vTOg1q74mk5evkCK_9JiR67xpNTEZjPBEb4qruA/edit?usp=sharing
