Unless UCSD sends their acceptances in batches, which seems unlikely, I think it is safe to assume this is my first rejection of the cycle.  🙁

would assume my rejection too.. sadly.. strange that nobody claims UCSD here. Also its so still very early in California. Wonder if they sent out acceptances yesterday or simply updated the portals.

Thrilled to claim acceptance at UCSD (IR)! It was way earlier than I was expecting, but I'm so happy.

Big congrats!!! May I ask if it's an email from the department?

It was just an email to check the portal, which made for a stressful minute as I struggled to find my laptop while half asleep.

Thanks for the info! UCSD is great. Looks like their portal came before departmental email.  Now expecting my rejection letter soon lol.

Which schools did everyone apply to?

I ended up with UC Berkeley, Yale, Princeton, Cornell and UChicago. I'm applying in CP as an international.

Wow an impressive list! I applied to a pretty even split between top twenties and slightly lower ranked programmes

Same here. I don't believe in "safe schools," so I applied to some programs like Chicago, Johns Hopkins, and Berkeley that I consider difficult to get into, and others with higher admission rates but that I consider to be an excellent match for my interests (and vice-versa), like Pitt, Rutgers, and UIUC.

Yeah this is pretty much my approach too! Slightly different list of schools, but same general approach.

I'm really hoping Wisconsin comes through next week, had the most amazing convo with my interviewer and feels like a really great fit (....we shall see if they agree lol)

Even tho Friday isn't over, I want to take a moment to tell you that as we navigate this nerve-wracking waiting period, I just wanted to drop a quick note to remind us to take a breather this weekend. It's easy to get caught up in the anticipation, but let's make a conscious effort to find some time for ourselves.

Whether it's meditating, stepping outside for some fresh air, attending a service if that brings you peace, giving a friend a call, or simply watching the wind rustle through the trees, let's do something that centers us. The outcome in the coming weeks may be uncertain, and I get it: rejections are no walk in the park. But always remember, you are more than enough, and looking after yourself should be a top priority.

Wishing you all a weekend filled with relaxation and positive vibes.
We got this!

I'm very grateful for this forum! It calms me for some reason, even more than the grad admissions reddit thread. Thanks for the community support everyone!

I got an interview email from Vanderbilt on Wednesday. Just did the call very recently. I think it went pretty well. I’m hoping I get admitted.

Congrats! What subfield if you don't mind me asking?

Does being interviewed mean I’m on the shortlist or am I highly considered candidate? I’m just very curious how likely I am to be admitted after being interviewed

think it really depends, though I hear being interviewed is usually a sign you'll at least be waitlisted.

also, I have never been so excited for it to be Monday again so we might hear something!

I really hope I’m not waitlisted. It’s a better outcome than a denial, but I’m obviously hoping for an acceptance.

I agree with you. it is better to get a rejection than waitlist. relating to the safe schools. which school is easier for internationals to get accepted in: UMD, Van, Northwestern, and Georgetown?
