In case anyone is curious about Notre Dame's time schedule, this is a quote from an e-mail I received from director of graduate admissions yesterday: "Please be patient, decisions are not likely to be made before the end of February. As soon as any information is available you will be contacted via email."

hey tw -- what's your subfield?

"Please stop bothering us in the near future regarding decisions and wait until we contact you first." That is how I read it.

NO!! I did not ask her for info ... she simply emailed me to tell me that they are missing one of my LORs!!!!

Yeah, adcoms don't want to be bothered, and therefore have an incentive to let students think that decisions come in March. The UCLA status checker, for example, says:

To date, no decision has been made on your application. You may want to check the Application Status page to see if the department or program has listed any items that are missing from your file.

Please note that most decisions on graduate admissions for fall term are made in the months of March and April and therefore you should not anticipate a decision much before that time period.

Which we know is not true of UCLA.

Anyone else yet to have any acceptances or rejections? I applied to 13 schools, but not one of them has responded either way. The suspense is killing me. :)

Tell me about it.. i'm not sure what to look out for.. every time my phone rings i answer it with anticipation, check my email every 10min.. ugh its madness. what schools are you waiting for?

Count me on that list. Which schools are high in your list?

You're not alone mate, if that makes you feel any better. Going by last year Stanford should be getting their act together soon. Not knowing anything is hard to stand. I keep having admissions related dreams!

I'm waiting on Yale, Columbia, Harvard, UPENN, WashU, Georgetown and Johns Hopkins. I know from last year results database Yale should be making some moves...

FYI -- I just received the following from ND's DGS:

"Thank you very much for applying to the Political Science graduate program at Notre Dame. We wish to inform you that your application is complete, and your materials are now being reviewed by the Admissions Committee. There is nothing further we need from you at this point. Should that change, you will be notified of what is needed by email.

Unfortunately, the process of considering applicants is a long one. Please understand that we normally receive approximately 200 applications, from which we accept from 10-12 new students. Most likely you will not hear anything further from us until the end of Feburary or beginning of March.

Thank you again for applying, and the best of luck to you."

Gee. Thanks. STILL NO WORD FOR THE THEORISTS. AHHHH.

Jeez, their web site says they usually receive 300. That's quite a difference. You want to work with Mike Zuckert?

looks like another quiet day for UVA... :(

Yep, the UNC-UVA contingent remains on the hook. It's not insane to hope that we hear something in the afternoon, though, now is it?

Well, the one thing worse than not knowing where you stand with them could be knowing....

For those of you accepted to OSU, specifically the person who said they are getting funding regardless ... can I assume we all got a letter saying, "While I cannot provide financial details until the results of the Fellowship competition are known, be assured that

with this offer of admission we are committed to providing you a very competitive five year package of tuition and

stipend support."

I am just curious if anyone heard anything different, or if this is the standard.

Thanks, and congrats to all. Oh yeah! First Ph.D. acceptance with (probable) funding in two years of applications - I'm happy :)
