polisci applicant Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 The email did use my first name after "Dear", but nothing else personal. Take that for what it's worth.
expatbayern Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Congrats to the Harvard admits. Nothing in my email...
jackassjim Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Was it sent out/written in such a way that we should assume rejection if we didn't get anything? In short: yes. I'm sorry to be so pessimistic for those still waiting.
jackassjim Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 So you got in jackassjim? Yes. It was really unexpected. I feel very lucky.
natofone Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Congrats...what else did you get into, and will harvard trump those places?
jackassjim Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Congrats...what else did you get into, and will harvard trump those places? I'd rather answer that as a PM. It'll be in your box in a few minutes
k314 Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 congrats, harvard folks! ...and assuming no news is bad news, the application cycle is over for me!
jackassjim Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 wow congrats!!! so thats it? two people? email says 29
rlayla Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 has anyone gotten their rejections from columbia yet? and is it odd that i got accepted to all the public schools i applied to and rejected from all the private? hmm.
twright Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 has anyone gotten their rejections from columbia yet? and is it odd that i got accepted to all the public schools i applied to and rejected from all the private? hmm. I'd take Berkeley and Michigan over most of those private schools anyway, but hey that's just me.
fenderpete Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Congrats to all the Harvard applicants - absolutely awesome achievement. Hopefully that might be me next year
swr22 Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 BREAKING: Georgetown not finished reviewing files! Wow. Really?
plisar Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Officially in at UW-Seattle, with a first year fellowship. They only admitted seven people this year out of 220. Wow...what a bad year to apply to grad school.

aw02 Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 In short: yes. I'm sorry to be so pessimistic for those still waiting. not to be too optimistic, but the email (which I just got!) was pretty standard and impersonal. it was just like the emails from other places that ended up notifying waitlisted people much later. so i don't think it rules out the waitlist option.

Congrats, now I must choose, as I am done hearing from any schools that I am interested in.
scintille Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 To those who got accepted to Michigan, what are your subfields?
driftwood Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 I'm the University of Washington-Seattle theory admit on the results board. Would have mentioned it yesterday, just felt a bit sheepish posting about in the middle of people getting their Harvard acceptances!
fsmn36 Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 I don't suppose anyone has some insider info on Georgetown's Security Studies MA? I noticed Public Policy all over the result board, but not a single SS. I'm already figuring I'm out on the wave of PhD accepts, but I'm really crossing my fingers for the MA.
PoliSci Guy Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Edited because it was just me whining...
hopeful2 Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 to those waiting for NYU, i just got an email from the grad coordinator that they are still evaluating applications. any idea what's happening with MIT admissions...they fedex'ed selected applicants yesterday. so you don't get a letter today/tomorrow, there is no chance. those who did not hear back from chicago were rejected. i emailed a professor. i was also curious if many people emailed professors about their interests earlier...so they fight for you in the admissions committee.
AllFiredUp Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Is anyone waiting on Brown U. They usually notify about this time. Any scuttle?
