bernard Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Anybody in BIO stream heard from Berkeley? I hope decision has not been made yet for this stream... But it seems that majority of acceptance has been sent.
kyrpoff Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 I got Friday evening (european time saturday morning) a congratulatory email from Stanford professor for accepting to CS Ph.D. No official letter yet, though.
bernard Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 kyrpoff, I suppose you are international applicant, like me. Congrats on gaining admission to Stanford. Care to share your GRE scores?
kyrpoff Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Sure, GRE quant 800, verbal 660, analytical 4.0. Subject test 830. I have no clear specialization area yet, although i have quite extensive work experience from virtual worlds / internet company. Also admitted to CMU, but have not heard from Berkeley or Cornell yet.
leogk Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 I asked my professor at MIT when MIT are going to send out their decision, he said it will be in next week. I didn't asked what happened to me because I feel a little bit uncomfortable to ask my "personal" result to a professor who may not be in charge of admission stuff (no matter he already know it or not.) (Am I right? ) good luck to everyone here !!
bernard Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Thanks for the insider's news. Waiting is near the end!
octav1an Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 I asked my professor at MIT when MIT are going to send out their decision, he said it will be in next week. should've asked him if octav1an got in the nervousness is killing me
longhorn Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 congrats to all who got in! seems like I won't get in anywhere this time
leogk Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 should've asked him if octav1an got in the nervousness is killing me  Haha, octav1an. If you are really curious about it, you may make a call to the admission coordinator a couple of days later. She is very nice so she may let you know what happened. I might ask it next Mon or Tue .... the admission office is just 20m away from where I am.... >.< Anyway, let's be bold and brave. Next week we may see plethora of decision-out !

nebulasam Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 Hi, To the guy who posted in the results section about the phone call from Stanford: Can you elaborate further? Was it an interview or just a congratulatory phone call? In what area in CS did you apply? It was a congratulatory phone call. My areas of specialization are machine learning and robotics. :-)

michigantrumpet Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Anybody applied for Network Security/Computer Security specialization (PhD)? At which school?

leogk Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Hi, Guys... Today I just walked in the graduate office of MIT, and asked about when I'm going to be notified... She said I can see the decision on the webpage (where you submitted your application to) at Feb 17th. But I guess if you are admitted, you may get it earlier. (via an email or a package).
leogk Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 To new_neo: Yeah I did... I have no idea of what's happening now in RI because I'm not now in Pittsburgh and graduate students do not join admission process unlike CSD.
myism Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 it seems Stanford is sending out mass rejection emails at the moment
MD0925 Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Spoke to Stanford EE Director of Admissions(met her during my visit). Decisions should be out in the next two weeks!! Ghosh!! This one is really really important for me :?:
