asleepawake Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Maybe if I did this, I would feel better... and maybe not. Not enough anger! happygreengrass 1
Datatape Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 If I don't get in anywhere this year, my plan is to join the ACME Detective Agency and track Carmen Sandiego across the globe for the rest of my days. Yep. Norman G, practical cat, damequixote and 3 others 6
practical cat Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 If I don't get in anywhere this year, my plan is to join the ACME Detective Agency and track Carmen Sandiego across the globe for the rest of my days. Yep. I'm trying to secure a job as Bill Nye's lab assistant. Laokoon, havefunstormingthecastle, obrera and 1 other 4
t1racyjacks Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 None of my schools will start notifying until next week at the earliest and I'm already thinking about the next application cycle... Clearly losing it here. SAME!!!!!!!!! you're not alone in your insanity justkeepswimming 1
dazedandbemused Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 I'm trying to secure a job as Bill Nye's lab assistant. I really hope you get it. Fingers Crossed! Personally, I will be working with Chris and Martin Kratt following our bouncing friend, Zaboomafoo. havefunstormingthecastle, Laokoon and Two Espressos 3
cbttcher Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 None of my schools will start notifying until next week at the earliest and I'm already thinking about the next application cycle... Clearly losing it here. Exactly the same feeling... And I have no idea what I could do in that year... I don't want to start my PhD in Germany. :|
KenAnderson Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Yep, I am in the Zero confidence club..... need some xanax.
InHacSpeVivo Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 If I don't get in anywhere this year, my plan is to join the ACME Detective Agency and track Carmen Sandiego across the globe for the rest of my days. Yep. Best. Plan B. Ever. Granted, I didn't have much confidence to start, but being 0/2 I think I'm officially at 0%.
hopeful80 Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Erm, hi? Joining the rock bottom confidence club :/ I have a low-ish GPA and mediocre GRE scores but I'm hoping to blow brains up with exploding rainbows, aka heavily hope that my writing samples will be enough to kick my butt through the door. S-I-G-H. I will find out if I got into my first round of programs (for professional writing!) in March. My stomach is in KNOTS.
BrookeSnow Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Looking at the history of my schools notifications. March is the earliest I would find anything out. I can't wait that long. Im going slightly...okay very crazy.
Porridge Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 I have implied rejections. I wish the formal rejections would hurry up so I can get on with my life. Cactus Ed 1
nada.am Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 Ahhhh. I've tried not to post much here for fear of addiction, but the stress is getting to me! The people around me have been very supportive, but clearly everyone (except those applying for phds) has limits, so i need an outlet! i have one rejection and one acceptance (but with funding still pending, so not very helpful in terms of alleviating anxiety) and the slowness of the past week is so stressful! I've lost all perspective in terms of my chances and i have a feeling that february is going to be one terribly neurotic month! Let try to stay as positive as physically/emotionally possible..!!! Here's to hoping next week brings an influx of good news to everyone here!!
Cactus Ed Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 Having heard nothing at this point, I'm pretty sure I'd take any form of communication, from a timid "yes" to a resounding "no" to a "what the hell were you thinking applying here?!" Just sayin'. Put me out of my misery already. t1racyjacks and Porridge 2
asleepawake Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 (edited) Well congrats on your acceptance, nada.am! Even without certainty about the funding, that's great news! Edited February 3, 2013 by asleepawake nada.am 1
Porridge Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 Nada, I think you can feel fairly confident. They are probably deciding what sort of funding (RA/TA/Fellowship). nada.am 1

Just sayin'. Put me out of my misery already. Same here. I just want to hear something. Basically because I need to know if I can stay in the US or not. Plus, I'm writing my MA thesis right now... And I'm a mess. cicada123 1

Plus, I'm writing my MA thesis right now... And I'm a mess. Yikes, I'm glad I'm two years removed from my M.A. thesis. It made for a less stressful application rush, though I was a bit rusty and had to dredge up a lot of old material to get my WS in order. I couldn't imagine not knowing my impending country of residence, though. I'll drink a good vibes beer for you

slvitale Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 So, after one rejection (veteran of the Vandy bloodbath) I am aggressively considering other options. Does anyone know anything about the College of Charleston MA program?
Two Espressos Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 I have implied rejections. I wish the formal rejections would hurry up so I can get on with my life. This. I have three implied rejections, possibly four, once we see how NYU turns out...
waparys Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 This. I have three implied rejections, possibly four, once we see how NYU turns out... I'm not losing hope yet. NW isn't over until it's over, Two Espressos. And NYU has barely started notifying!
Swagato Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 You have no idea how much I envy you guys for at least hearing back something, by now. Over in my area, there are 2 departments I'd applied to who (last year) already notified admits and interviews by this time, but are completely silent this year. And another 2 departments are right in the zone for notifying, but are also silent. I could slice the tension in the air around me with a knife. Next week had better be stuffed with news, or I might do bad things to my cats.
Deadinthewater Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 Next week had better be stuffed with news, or I might do bad things to my cats. Sounds gross, but yeah. Two Espressos 1
nada.am Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 (edited) Nada, I think you can feel fairly confident. They are probably deciding what sort of funding (RA/TA/Fellowship). Thanks... that logic exists somewhere in my head, it's just not processing right now Edited February 3, 2013 by nada.am

I'll be really sad if I make it through the next week without any communication whatsoever; now that it's February, my nerves are doing double-time. InHacSpeVivo 1
