Hatem Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 When you received the final decision from your schools, whether you were accepted, rejected, waitlisted or invited for an interview. What did they write in the subject line of the email sent to you? Perhaps this sounds like a silly question but I'm really curious to know.As I recieved and still receive emails from my school for other issues other than final decsion and every time I see an email from them I freak out.
Helpplease123 Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 Message from (insert school name) Admissions Office - this was the same for a waitlist and an acceptance from last year. A denial came as "admissions decision now available".
Seeking Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 (edited) Message from the Admissions Office - I got this message twice today and my heart skipped a beat - only to find out it was an advertisement from a school where I didn't apply. I wish they wouldn't do this. I am yet to hear from the schools where I applied. Edited January 28, 2012 by Seeking jren76 1
DoggieMom Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 <School name>: <department name> That was it. No hint of what was inside.
wlkwih2 Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 I hate the fact that Gmail gives you a sneak preview of the first few lines of your e-mail so basically, if I see something like "We are happy to..." or "We are sorry", I'll already know.

Do programs actually send out decisions in the body of the email? When I applied last year, my previews were all something like "log into your ApplyYourself account to see your decision" and on top of logging in there, you had to click on another one or two links to see the letter! Agony! Haha! I would appreciate exactly what you describe. No drawn out wait, no circles to run in, just a pure and simple answer. Also, my husband came in with the mail this morning and had a thick packet in his hand and was like "this isn't anything, don't get too excited," and it was just a magazine I get. Of course, if I was applying to undergrad, thick packets would thrill me to no end.
wlkwih2 Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 I'm already logging myself in every couple of hours. WAY AHEAD OF THEM!!1111
DoggieMom Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 The acceptance I received was an e-mail with just a text message. No links to click . It was also 2 pages long and entirely personalized. No form letter!
tauren Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 Interview invite: X State University Clinical Health Straight forward but vague at the same time.
antecedent Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 My acceptance came in 2 emails, one right after another. The first, from the University, said: Application to The University of XX - New Intray Message". The second one, from the department secretary, said "Application to Study at The University of XX"

snes Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 Hahaha, because I went through the process last year too, I'll post my batch. Rejections: "Decision made on your application to [school] for the 2011-12 academic year." "[school] Application" Waitlist: "[school] [Department] Admissions Update Information." Interviews: "[school] PhD Interview" "Admissions Visit" "[Department] Invitation - Open House" Acceptances: "[school] - Office of Graduate Admissions - Application Status - [Date]" "Admission to [school]!"

Grunty DaGnome Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Mine was a bot of a spoiler, LOL. From U Florida: "Offer of Admission" From Tufts: "Good News!" I think Tufts is especially nice not to let you spend on more minute in agony.
LLajax Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Mine was a bot of a spoiler, LOL. From U Florida: "Offer of Admission" From Tufts: "Good News!" I like the "good news!" line also. Just imagine that popping up on your phone! I wonder what their reject message says- I hope it's something equally kind/personable, like "I'm really sorry" or "it's okay if you cry"? busybee3, coffeeplease, Hegel's Bagels and 2 others 5

This feature in gmail is both a bless and a curse. one member here said that when she clicked the message to open, the webpage was very slow downlaoding but she could read the sneak preview saying "offer of admission".
nechalo Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Mine was a bot of a spoiler, LOL. From U Florida: "Offer of Admission" From Tufts: "Good News!" Hehe, maybe chemistry departments are just a little more straightforward than others. I'm also chem and this is what I've seen: UC Davis: Congratulations on your admission to UC Davis UCLA: UCLA Admission UW: University of Washington Admission Offer UMD: Congratulations!!! GaTech: Georgia Tech admission Northwestern and NC State were more reserved, with the former giving a vague subject and the latter just asking me to sign into my account. Will update when the rejections/any other acceptances come
contretemps Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Yeah, I'm beginning to think that chem programs are more straightforward. This morning, I received an e-mail from my smartphone with the subject line: "JHU Acceptance". And then my internet died for 30 minutes just before the message loads. I swear, that was the longest 30 minutes. What if the subject line said "acceptance" but the message inside says "Just kidding, we are rejecting you". sigh.

I would have thought more that the inside would say "In order to accept you to this program, we need you to fulfil this one last [Herculean] task in the next week. Thanks!"

jspring86 Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 Got my first admit yesterday from ASU, the subject line was, "ASU Admit Letter".
