Fiona Thunderpaws Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 April fifteenth, for better or worse, everything will be over! I can't speak for everyone here, but no words have ever been sweeter to me. What are you going to do to celebrate the end? I think we all need something to look forward to throughout these last few weeks!
magog Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 Buy a hooker with the last bit of money I've saved from my 'real job.'
Aubergine Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 This also happens to be right around the time that my thesis is due.... it will surely be epic.
pinkrobot Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 bubbly for everyone! Well, I am not loaded, so by "everyone," I mean my partner, my mom, and my two besties. but that doesn't roll off the tongue quite as well as ... bubbly for everyone! eriksmegs and rainy_day 2
Fiona Thunderpaws Posted March 1, 2012 Author Posted March 1, 2012 (edited) I'm thrown between getting the best bottle of gin I can afford and having gin and tonics all day, or dancing naked down the quad of my undergrad institute. Both maybe? I feel like one leads to the other somehow... Edited March 1, 2012 by Fiona Thunderpaws eriksmegs and rainy_day 2
cquin Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 Celebrate? I know not what this word means. I only know how to sigh, weep, and gnash my teeth. Julianne Pigoon 1
rainy_day Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 I'm still waiting to pop open the bottle of champagne in my fridge for an acceptance. With a waitlist at one of my top choice schools, it might be preeeetty close to April 15th before I get to open the bottle.
memberofthe? Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 I plan on taking a trip to Europe on April 20th, been saving for MONTHS! All I want is to jump off a bridge and know that I'll come right back up. Metaphor for my life right now, cheesy, maybe... But bungee jumping is awesome! And so is Italian food.
antecedent Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 I'm hopefully getting a new laptop and another tattoo, and then NEVER SPENDING MONEY AGAIN. I celebrated my acceptances by taking a day off of work, drinking ALL OF THE WINE, and stretching up my septum piercing. And then I promptly got sick. I'll celebrate any funding I acquire by taking a quick weekend trip to wherever I end up going (if it's Scotland I'll just go early) to scout out housing and hopefully find a place. Julianne Pigoon 1

Memberofthe-- I lived in Florence for a little while, and I spent far more than I should've on food there. If you're heading that way and want some restaurant suggestions, PM me! It's just about my favourite thing to talk about.
TripWillis Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 I really want a celebratory starting the PhD new laptop this fall, with the hope that it will carry me through the whole program. Are there any laptops out there that have automatic dissertation writing features? As for celebrating my acceptance, um, I already did... can anyone tell me what happened in February? I was kinda blackout drunk the whole time...

Are there any laptops out there that have automatic dissertation writing features? Not currently, but I'm sure Apple is working on that. To celebrate my acceptance, I'd like to get another tattoo... or maybe just a good night's sleep.

If getting a new laptop for school, be sure to buy it after August 31 (I think?) because you can have your school count it (one time over your education) as an added expense and you can write it off on your taxes or take a federal loan to get it.

veniente Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 CUNY, Amherst, or Rutgers? Wow. Hey trip, I see your signature has changed - has Rutgers come through for you yet?
TripWillis Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Hey trip, I see your signature has changed - has Rutgers come through for you yet? It's still waitlist, but I have a good feeling. My signature is basically a reflection of how dumbfounded I am to be faced with 3 excellent choices at the end of this crazytrain of a process.
DorindaAfterThyrsis Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Alcohol. Lots and lots of alcohol. (Strangely, this "celebration" plan is remarkably similar to the "abject despair" plan I've been operating under for going on 8 weeks now. My liver hurts.) Lyrus, rainy_day and hedgerows 3

(Strangely, this "celebration" plan is remarkably similar to the "abject despair" plan I've been operating under for going on 8 weeks now. My liver hurts.) I'm pretty sure I killed my liver MONTHS ago. It's okay, because a) Hemingway did it, and I'm pretty sure livers are one of those vestigial organs, you know, the type we stopped have use for long ago... (Or at the rate we're going, we'll be the generation to render them useless... how great would it be if we could process alcohol through our brains?)
Julianne Pigoon Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 I already got my tattoo and this is not even over. My BFF and I are planning a gigantic dance party in her mostly empty pretty little ritzy East Side apartment. Booze, Sleigh Bells, annoying the fuck out of the snooty neighbors and their dogs with all the graduating literature majors. wooooo my head hurts
felicite Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 I will be closing the play Hedda Gabler the night before, taking finals the day before and afterward, finishing a paper or two, and packing to leave for London, Europe, Russia, and China all summer on the 22nd. So, maybe I'll sleep a bit. Maybe I'll just pack. Maybe I'll scream at the top of my lungs until I lose my voice.

Fiona Thunderpaws Posted March 3, 2012 Author Posted March 3, 2012 Gusta Pizza? No, actually! It was on the other side of the Arno, near Santa Croce. Pretty much right outside the door of my apartment building was this restaurant with a little pizza annex kitchen in the back. It didn't even have a name. This man made all the pizzas himself, and people would queue up outside the door waiting to get one of the six tables. He knew my roomates and I by sight and would make our dough in the shape of hearts and stuff. I have DREAMS about that pizza!
Venti White Choc. Mocha Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Haha nice fiona. I'm going to clean my house. For real this time, not just enough to make me feel better.
Jbarks Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Last night I went to see Madama Butterfly at the Met. Today I'm going to see Wit. I've had these tickets since October because I knew at this time of the year I would be either celebrating or swooning in despair.
