icthere Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 I'd like to define a new term: Refresh Per Minute (RPM) is the average number of times one refreshes one's email page per minute in one's waking hours. The value is usually reported in mRPM (milli-RPM) Mine is around 470 mRPM. You?!!! Christa 1
jaywalker Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 It might be better to report it as RPH. Then you don't have to convert to mRPM, which is a little less intuitive (what is a 1,000th of a refresh? haha) That being said, i'm at about 4 RPH, which converts to about .067 RPM, or 67 mRPM.
We regret to inform you Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 I keep my email open in its own tab, and the number of unread emails is listed right there on the tab. So no refreshing is necessary. mmary1988 and Semester Photon 2
Darth.Vegan Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 I'm not waiting for grad school but for two NSF Internships I applied for. Notifications should be coming any day now and I can't stop checking my email constantly.
Yoshite Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 I set up the push notification on my iphone, then removed all other email accounts so any new emails that come in to this inbox is related to my graduate admission. This way I don't need to keep refreshing a page at all metamorfoz 1
mirandaw Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 gmail + google chrome = new emails pop up in their own notification window. Blackberry + gmail = I check my phone about 10 times a minute.
foucaultmania Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 at least 10 times on laptop and 5 times on my phone
sweetnighter Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 ...I'm sorry, did you say something? I was busy refreshing my email. Lt. Mango and Teejus 2
crazygirl2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 I've tried refreshing my email even though new emails pop up automatically. It makes me feel better, okay?!? Semester Photon 1
metamorfoz Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Push notification on my phone here and I've installed Gmail Notifier to the PC + checking it out manually in case the programs do not work well
Christa Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 yahoo messenger pops a little notification everytime a new email is recieved with part of the subject line. so 0 RPM for me
-hermes- Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 I'm actually surprised to say I haven't been frantically refreshing my inbox at all. I have push notifications set up on my iPhone, so I never really log into the website to check my email. But I'm now at a point where I'm starting to freak out each time I hear the new mail notification sound. It's this 'oh my god the moment of judgement has arrived' feeling over and over again.
