antipod Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Heard from TC today. I too received that spooky email with a link to the application and then an embedded link for the decision. Got in though. Phew. (MA International Education Development). Anyone else hear from them today too?
PavoReal Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 After getting my rejection letter from UC Berkeley's GSE (umm, I'm just telling myself it just wasn't the right program fit...) I received my TC acceptance to the IED program a few hours later. I'm still weighing my options and would love to hear people's opinions about the TC int'l ed program. Best of luck to all the applicants out there! Wouldn't it be nice if we could just all get in, or at least get decisions, RIGHT NOW?!!!
antipod Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 ...I'm still weighing my options and would love to hear people's opinions about the TC int'l ed program.... PavoReal, yesterday I started another thread to this same end, hoping to compare the various Intl Ed programs (including TC). I'm hoping some people will share their insights and would certainly like to hear your thoughts too... (It's entitled "Comparing International Education Masters Programs" or something equally ingenious )
amazingrace Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Heard from TC today. I too received that spooky email with a link to the application and then an embedded link for the decision. Got in though. ashley.minne Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 I just got accepted to Columbia's IED program!!!! I began checking the application website constantly and found out before the email was sent! Now I feel a lot better since I've been waiting around in South America just dying to know what to do next... this is a big surprise for me since I am 22 and was afraid I lacked experience. Guess not!
PavoReal Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Congrats, PavoReal! Are you an international student or American? Thanks so much! I'm American but have lived abroad on and off since my junior year of undergrad. Right now I'm teaching in Mexico.

antipod Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Congrates, Antipod! Are you in USA? Yeah I live in the US now... Of the couple of us who got in over the past week or so, are you guys planning on accepting?
ed09 Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 I was thrilled to find I have also been accepted by TC yesterday. My program is Instructional Technology and Media (EdD). Is anyone in the same program? Besides, I am curious if anyone hears about the financial aid? I know TC's high acceptance rate prevents it from having the same high rate of financial support. But it's really my big concern. Could anyone share some of your insights about the financial matters at TC? Thank you! congrats to all!
wallflower8885 Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Just received notification I was accepted - will most likely enroll. I was looking at Temple and UPenn as well, but UPenn's class schedule didn't seem conducive to a commuter w/ FTE. Temple looked solid, but not as focused on Higher Ed as on administration in K-12. Anyone else considering this program or have other thoughts on it?
missashley Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 I called today to check on the decision dates for arts admin, and was told "we're kinda on rolling admissions" which is not true. they previously said that the final decision day would be the 15th. He then told me I would hear "within the next week or two" if i hadn't already gotten into my first choice, this kind of nonsense would reeeeally make me want to withdraw my app. grrrrrr...
prefers_pencils Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 So true. I'm still waiting to hear from the Org. & Leadership Dept...
Teach914 Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 Congratulations to everyone! I was admitted last week as well. I'm going to be in the MA program for Gifted Education for fall 2009. Is anyone else in that program?
amazingrace Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Congratulations to everyone as well! Is there anyone hearing from TC about financial aids? I know Ph.D or Ed.D students definitely will be funded! What about MA or EdM students?
Pentothepage Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Someone earlier mentioned Leadership, Policy and Politics... I applied to that one as well, and I'm still waiting to hear. Columbia TC is now the only school not to have told me anything, other than "we'll be a little longer than expected."
amazingrace Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Hey everyone, I got a question here and maybe you can help me about financial aid. The office sent me a letter saying: Award letter will mail to you by this month. What does it mean? Will Award letter necessarily include financial aids? Thank you, guys!

Yes, award letter = financial aid info.
oceanstorm Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 I got an email today asking me if I was interested in the Summer or Fall... I don't know if that means they haven't evaluated me yet OR they did and want to know which semester I want to start. AUGH the waiting.
Inspekt Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Where did you hear PhD student will definitely have funding? I was told to expect absolutely no funding from teacher's college by the director of admissions and a professor in my area.
parva Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 Hi, this is my first time posting although i came here a lot to see other ppl's posts. so, i got the admission's letter from TC departement (literacy specialist) does anyone know about that specific program? I am just a little bit intimidated about their school work since it's an ivy school do you know how they are? also, i am looking into living in the single housing dorm, do you guys have any suggestions on housing? thanks
missashley Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 This week they (TC arts admin) told me that they don't know if they will have sent out any or all of their letters by April 15th even, they said there is no way to know for sure. I know that i am the only one who is looking at that program, but if certain parts of the school aren't even trying to get decisions out by then, it could bode poorly for others.
amazingrace Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 Hey guys, has anyone heard anything about financial aid?
