Christa Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 Applied to 8. accepted to 4. rejected from 2 and 2 haven't responded yet.
wheatGrass Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 4/4. I was initially waitlisted for one but got moved from the waitlist a couple of days later. I only applied to programs that were a really good fit.
prettyuff1 Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 2/7 I applied to 7 got accepted to 2, rejected by two and have 3 in no mans land.
We regret to inform you Posted April 29, 2012 Author Posted April 29, 2012 (edited) i'm happy with the funded acceptance i got and the program is an awesome fit for me, but i am kinda curious why i had such poor luck. i'd consider myself a pretty solid applicant, but maybe not. Edited April 29, 2012 by We regret to inform you
Gneiss1 Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 1 fully funded acceptance, 2 waitlists, 2 rejections. The acceptance ironically was my top choice so I am pretty happy with that haha:)
stell4 Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 17% Applied to 7 programs Accepted: 1 (top choice!!!) Rejected: 4 Heard nothing from: 2 My ego would have like to get accepted to more (all really), but I am in my top choice, so I guess that's all that matters.
imonedaful Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 0% so far. Still waiting on 2 of the 3 schools I applied to. I feel like the time I do find out about whether I got in or not I will have forgotten I applied.
contretemps Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 60% (3 out of 5 PhD programs) Last year obviously it was 0%, but that was for MS Programs.
mallorn Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 50%, one fully funded, counting the school I need to hear back from. Pretty good I guess, but I wish all of the acceptances had been fully funded haha.
Hillary Emick Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 50%, one rejection and one well-funded acceptance. I only applied to 2 PhD programs. I had no idea how competitive it would be or I would have hedged my bets better and applied to more programs. I am grateful it worked out for me.
Ameonna Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 28.6% acceptance rate, with 2 acceptances and 5 rejections. All that matters to me, though, is the 99% chance that I will be starting classes for my doctoral degree this coming Fall, which is really exciting! As long as you get in where you'll be happy, it doesn't matter how big your rejection pile was... at least, that's my opinion on the subject. stell4 1
misgengen Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 50%, 2 acceptances 2 rejections. not gonna lie, it hurts but what are you gonna do right..haha
TeaGirl Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 0% so far I'm still waiting on one last decision, but I don't know how likely it to be a positive one. In all likelihood, I'll trying again next year.
sweetnighter Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 one for fifteen... but one's enough! TropicalCharlie 1
crazygirl2012 Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 10% acceptance rate. 40% interview rate, which is slightly better... unless it just implies that I'm bad at interviews (which I swear I'm not!).
jaywalker Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 22.2%...1 PhD acceptance, 1 Masters acceptance, and 7 rejections (including my dream school). But after seeing first-hand just how competitive this process is, I am more than happy with my results! I'm also at 25% for outside fellowships (accepted to 1, rejected from 3). I fully expected this rate to be 0%.
OnceAndFutureGrad Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 (edited) 2009: 17% (5 outright rejections, counting the consolation MA as a success). 2010: 0%. 2011: 50% (1 rejection, 1 PhD acceptance with fellowship). Not including the MA, all three years put together equals 6.67%. And more GRE and app fees than I'll ever let myself calculate Edited May 7, 2012 by OnceAndFutureGrad
melly_mel Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 2 for 3. And funny enough, I currently work for the school I was rejected from!
Nerd_For_Life Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 MPhil Cambridge: Accepted MA UofT: Waitlisted then accepted the next day Australian National University PhD: Accepted
