Berkeley EECS PhD

I am in a very nervuous situation. Two weeks ago, I have been awarded the Fulbright scholarship in my country, yet I have not been admitted to UCB, and UCB is the only university I applied for, I was too late for others!!

I told the admissions office about my status, they congratulated me, and said that they will see what they can do for me. Still waiting, it is all or nothing!!! ( No UCB = no Fulbright). The wait is breaking me apart, I am preparing myself for a big dissapointment :)

You were right. I just received my rejection letter. UIUC it is <3 !

Congrats on UIUC! It's a wonderful school and top in engineering. Considering how many students apply to Berkeley's EECS program, this is not really surprising and we are still great students regardless!

Thank you.

Actually I accepted the offer from UIUC before hearing back from Berkeley. My area is control systems and I like the work the people in UIUC do in controls. Also, the professor who will supervise me has significant contributions in the area. I'm really happy with UIUC and the rejection from Berkeley wasn't an issue for me.

@khaled: what are the specific topics in controls that you are interested in? Just curious, I am in control too :)

I find a lot of the topics in controls fascinating, but generally, I'd prefer working on  the applications of controls and optimization in smart grids and renewable energy sources. Also, there are some topics that i don't want to work on ( robotics and biomedical applications)

I am still waiting for an answer! Are there any others who got no answer yet?

There is a good chance you are wait-listed.

From what I hear most rejects have received notification by now.

Well, i hope that the long wait leads to good news, since even by now, I have not received a response. Does Berkeley adhere to the april 15th deadline? I must know something by next week I hope.
