Gwendolyn Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 (edited) I can't remember which thread it was, but yesterday I noticed some members discussing their ages while applying to graduate school. Now I'm curious to know the average age of applicants on TheGradCafe. Edited February 20, 2013 by Gwendolyn
lisajay Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 if we were talking about every time i've applied for grad school, i could have fit in 3 of those categories Gwendolyn, La Boca del Pozo and no_foam_cappuccino 3

dazedandbemused Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 23 in a few weeks. Hoping to finish grad school before 30!
TripWillis Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Seeing all the 26-30s reppin' is making me feel better about the fact I'll be 30 in a year and three months. Sometimes I look at my freshfaced cohort-mates and go, "Goddamn I wish I had the energy to stay at school until 9 and work on the weekends and then go get wasted." But, on the other hand, none of them know what 7:00 in the morning looks like. OctaviaButlerfan 1
dazedandbemused Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 But, on the other hand, none of them know what 7:00 in the morning looks like. Damn straight! I haven't seen it in about 10 years.
yellow.wallpaper Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 I was twenty when I applied, but just turned 21. Gwendolyn 1
DontHate Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 I'm always up at 7 am. May have something to do with my intense levels of anxiety lately
beet-nik Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 I'm the same as yellow.wallpaper! But I know what 7:00 in the morning looks like. Actually, more like 5:00. (And this is why none of you should decide to pick up sports in your last year of undergraduate study.) yellow.wallpaper 1
KeelyMK Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 I'm one of the oldest undergrads at school :/ I've really been looking forward to getting into grad school so that I don't feel so awkward and can be around more people closer to my age, even if they are way further along in their studies. So yay for 27. (my 28th birthday is also the last day of undergrad AND the day the new Star Trek comes out. I die.) TripWillis 1

It's pleasantly out of the norm for me to be solidly within the average age range for students in my department I was 29 when I started the PhD, btw.
