So it turns out I'll be hearing from my top choice (CP Pomona) by next week. Until then to alleviate my insane amounts of anxiety, I'm working on a few other things to be excited about.

-Weekend volunteering at a local farm

-Volunteering as an Art Teacher at a local Art Center

-Painting for an upcoming gala

-Integrating more Yoga/stretching

-Preparation for the LEED Green Associate Exam in May

It's funny because with all of that on my plate..all of these wonderful things going on in the present, it is INSANELY DIFFICULT to stay focused. What's everyone else doing to maintain their sanity? Positive and negative distractions welcome.

I just discovered I should be hearing from my last 2 choices relatively soon. Lucky for me my finals have been magically bumped up to next week and I can spend all my time writing my thesis and studying. Hopefully planning my trip to Montana doesn't enable too much procrastination.

Speaking of stress eating......jelly beans.....damn easter jelly beans everywhere!

Ooh, I'm headed to a drugstore tonight for travel supplies... all that Easter candy is going to be dangerous

Don't do it! So many different kinds I think I'm in a sugar coma....

I think that the candy brands like M&M's and such actually just store up all there messed up shaped candies and rebrand them during easter as "egg" shaped. And the conspiracy theories begin.......

M&M's aren't manufactured by Nestle, are they? Otherwise, I'm sure Nestle and Cadbury have joined forces.

I guess I should add "getting a shamrock shake" as another thing to look forward to

getting back in shape, for sure! joined my local YMCA recently, since they gave me some financial aid. totally stoked to be sweating out all my emotions again! also trying to eat better. my goal is to be the same weight as i was a couple of years ago (read: before my metabolism hit a brick wall and the beer started winning..), but to have a lot more muscle. i'd rather be strong than skinny! especially since my S.O. is a firefighter- he's crazy in shape, so i always feel like i have to catch up to him!

i'm also nurturing my inner adrenaline junkie. every weekend has involved something outdoorsy: long road/mountain bike rides, snowboarding, sailing, bouldering, moto/dirt biking, and so on. nothing to take your mind off decisions like a huge rush of energy following some slightly questionable decisions.  ;)

I've been knitting and learning how to cook Indian and other Asian food; they occupy my nervous hands and I can make something beautiful/tasty out of it. ::yum::

Also started working as a kitchen aide at a local nursing home; the shifts have me pretty exhausted by the end, so I'm too tired to obsess (well, more than usual) about acceptance results.

Yeah, working out is DEFINITELY the way the go-best way to alleviate all the anxious feelings. It definitely is a better alternative to smoking cigarettes and pounding beers and lurking around aimlessly on gradcafe-not that I've ever done that before  B)

Runs longer then 90 minutes usually destress me pretty well. However, afterwards I am so tired that my brain won't function properly for me to get any necessary work done. Oh how happy I will be when this quarter is over and everything is done with.

I wrote a novel. Don't know what can make me prouder: publishing a novel/getting a PhD :)

With luck, you might not even need the PhD to continue a career in writing :)

For myself, a friend roped me in to join him in a choir. Seemed to be a magic pill as I had stopped singing in a choir for 7 years after leaving high school, and I was actually missing the feeling of being in one.

Indeed! Most best selling authors don't even have a MFA, and as far as I know, most creative writing programs would care less about genre writing, which is what I do right now.

Choir is cool! I have never been in one, but I do know signing is for good stress relief.
