I had to hard copy send in my SOI and transcripts to one of my institutions and I accidentally sent them my draft where when I got to talking about the university I just had a bullet with "TALK ABOUT UNIVERSITY STUFF" and nothing else! I was in so much of a rush I did not check my file I printed. Luckily a student worker got my application before they read it to make sure it was complete and emailed me telling me this. They allowed me to email my actual SOI and just printed it and inserted it.
Runs longer then 90 minutes usually destress me pretty well. However, afterwards I am so tired that my brain won't function properly for me to get any necessary work done. Oh how happy I will be when this quarter is over and everything is done with.
I think that the candy brands like M&M's and such actually just store up all there messed up shaped candies and rebrand them during easter as "egg" shaped. And the conspiracy theories begin.......
I just discovered I should be hearing from my last 2 choices relatively soon. Lucky for me my finals have been magically bumped up to next week and I can spend all my time writing my thesis and studying. Hopefully planning my trip to Montana doesn't enable too much procrastination.
I'm not a huge climber, but I have dabbled and being here in San Diego so close to Joshua Tree you feel bad to not take advantage, but yeah I'm more of just an outdoor guy and that impacted a major part of my applications. I need to be outdoors and most of all I need a place that I can just walk out the door and run. San Diego is nice because I can do that even being so close to the city, but its not the same.
I'm reading my friends self published book The Epimetheus Trial. I'm pretty excited to be reading something he actually published because I know he has been writing little books here and there since he was like 13. I also keep jumping between American Psycho, Kurt Vonnegut: Letters, and John Dies at the End.
You mail in your personal statement and are in such a rush you forget to omit the part that says in big capital letters "INSERT STUFF ABOUT X COLLEGE HERE!"
This totally happened to me.....luckily the first person to get it was an assistant and a student and they emailed and called me telling me to reply back with my ACTUAL SOP. So I did and I actually got my acceptance from them. I never thought I would be so grateful for hard copy applications being required!
Yeah I have the same from my mom just saying that she is still holding out for school A over my choice of school B because its closer to my family and I've been in California for far too long!
It's a little different, but now that I have acceptances I hate telling people because instead of a congratulations, they feel like they need to put in their 2 cents about which program they think is best. It's like they try to put this whole other stress of me making a decision. In the end it is about what is best for me and my family and I need to throw opinions aside unless they have genuine evidence or reasoning behind their opinions.
