If you don't get accepted and don't think you will apply again?

Mine is project management (already in the field).

Not trying to be negative. For me, applying was somewhat of a whim. I'm not 100% sure I can live with a student stipend but I believe if I get accepted, I will go.

Plan B sounds like keep your job and look for other ways to make yourself more competitive outside of formal studies (self study, writing and publishing in the field, conferences, etc.).

If I don't go to grad school I have no idea what I will be doing with my life

What's wrong with the unknown? I have no idea what I'd do and that kinda excites me.

Well we all know my life desires and being 23 not knowing what to do with myself is not exciting is annoying and scary and frustrating

After reading the thread about finding a husband in graduate school, I read the title of this thread and instantly thought "omg, they are discussing birth control."

Anyways, I agree with this:

If I don't get into a PhD program I'll use my MA to go back overseas and teach English and try again in a few years.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

You might decide later you want to try again. For me the current app being accepted would open a lot of doors that I'm presently not finding ways to open on my own as an outsider.

But i've been both in and out, so I know it's not some life ending thing to get rejected. Heck, it would have been a favor compared to the first school I chose to attend.

Plan A:  Combined Masters/Dietetic Internship

Plan B:  Stand-alone Dietetic internship

Plan C: "regular" Masters (no internship)

My plan C is already secure - my fourth year honours thesis professor will happily have me as an MSc student.  The only problem is I can't become a registered dietitian that way - I need to complete a dietetic internship in order to do so.  The good news is that out of all the MSc students at my university, only one hasn't managed to secure an internship after graduation with their Masters degree.

Plan A is definitely my preferred option.  As a non-trad, the sooner I start work, the better.

I applied to only one school last year and was over way too much over confident. Didnt get through. So well this time I applied again there but in addition to that i am applying to 10 more schools. Rather 8 done, 3 more apps to go.

I am hoping i will be fine this time. If not, then well, i am still figuring it out.

Since I graduate last May I'm working two part-time jobs now. Once is a county job that actually has opportunities for advancement (even if the entry level job I'm in now is only part-time and low-wage), so if grad school apps don't work out I just plan and applying to a full-time position there once I work there a few more months. Then decide when next year roles around if I really want to try again. I could also one day work on a master's in that field and they'd even help pay for it.

It's not too bad, really. The only problem with working this job, being unrelated to what I'd want to do in grad school, is that it would be difficult to find more opportunities to improve myself. Even last year when I decided not to apply I thought I'd have more chances. I did gain some more experience in the spring semester, and a little bit summer and fall, but come fall when I got my jobs I also had to drop most of my volunteering or unpaid work because I just don't have time when I'm also having to work to make ends meet.

But at least I have this job to fall back on, and I'm glad for it.
