I've seen results posted for those schools, but not very many so it's hard to tell what's going on. Guess we'll just have to continue to wait and see! I'm an undergrad at Virginia Tech who's quite involved with the I/O professors there. They have extended offers to their interview weekend which is at the end of February. Are admissions for domestic/international considered together or separately?

roebuck1 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Do you know how many offers they sent out? and if they've also sent out rejections? Cause I've gotten neither so that probably means I'm on a waitlist.. :/ They only offer spots to as many students as they're able to fund. The last few years that has only been three and they continued that trend this year. Ergo, they essentially do not have a waitlist at this point because three people have accepted. Anyone that is still waiting to hear back from DePaul can consider themselves a bust (myself included).

USF - POI called me last Tuesday and told me I was admitted though not sure about funding yet.. Portland State - I was invited to their visiting weekend too and will go. UHouston - I was invited to visit but not sure if I will go cuz they didn't say if they will cover the flights.. Hope to see some of you guys at some of the schools.. Good luck everybody!!!

Academics know the value of international students I'd imagine, so I doubt there would be any intended or unintended disadvantage given to them. Edited February 11, 2014 by tanneraustin

Ok, well I am done being melodramatic but I feel that I am not going to get any acceptances. Here are my stats. 1) Washington University in St. Louis - Rejected 2) Auburn University - Rejected 3) Central Michigan University - (Haven't heard back, even though others have) 4) University of South Florida - (Haven't heard back, even though others have) 5) Virginia Tech - (Haven't heard back, even though others have) 6) University of Houston - (Haven't heard back, even though others have) 7) Rice University - Haven't heard back. ? Claremont Graduate University - Haven't heard back 9) Clemson University - Haven't heard back. I feel like I should get ready to apply next year, this is disheartening. But I am very happy for all of you guys who got accepted and who got interviews, I wish you the best and you guys are the students that we should look to for inspiration. I haven't heard back from them yet, and I just want to make sure I didn't simply miss their letter/email. Thanks! Don't give up hope yet, either. Did you get relatively good scores on the GRE? Do you feel pretty confident about your personal statement? Do you have some research experience under your belt? If the answer to any of these is yes, it could mean acceptance is right around the corner! My GPA was a mediocre 3.6. While my verbal GRE score was good, my quantitative scores were, again, mediocre/average (for Ph.D. programs). I didn't think anyone would take me, going into this process. If there's hope for me, there's certainly hope for anyone.

I have 2 years of undergraduate research experience in a psychology lab and 2 years of post-undergrad research in a physiology lab with a second author publication in manuscript/pending publication. I got interested in I/O after taking an introductory I/O psych course this past summer, but unfortunately my state school doesn't have any I/O research labs or PhD programs, so I don't have much I/O specific research experience. Anyone have any feedback in regards to my background? I have applied to 9 I/O Psych PhD programs, and heard back from one (wait listed at UCF). I have seen others have heard back from more than half of the other programs I have applied to, so I am assuming acceptance chances at those schools are slim to none. I am keeping hope that I will get accepted somewhere, and I think it's important to remain positive! Good luck to everyone, and congrats to those who have already been accepted!

You clearly have the basic credentials to get into a program. I got into UCF's PhD program this year with GRE scores of 159V/157Q, a 3.6GPA, and 1.5 years of I/O research experience in two different labs. I also had a second authorship on a publication in high school which probably helped me. My guess is that your background is more biology than psychology oriented, and biological psychology, while at times relevant to I/O, is much less relevant than areas such as social, personality, and cognitive psychology. Because programs accept so few people, they're big on fit between student interests and professor interests. I fit well with UCF because my research interests (social network analysis in particular with Dr. Wang) meshed with the program. Professors don't care so much that you're a stellar student if you'll come there with interests that have no place in their research. Edited February 11, 2014 by tanneraustin

I was a little iffy that their PhD program just started last year, but I think they'll continue to grow and eventually will be a great program.

Received an offer from Waterloo today I was going to apply there but then I changed my mind because of all the immigration requirements and stuff! But congrats to you! Really happy for you buddy.
