TheCheat_IsMyHero Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 I got an email about a phone interview for Akron this afternoon, as well! Interview is for tomorrow. Let's see what they got going on... Also totally interested in the Colorado State report. I wants. To know. The deal.
alecno Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Got an email from University of Houston today - interview weekend is Feb 22-23.
BeingThere Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Got an email from University of Houston today - interview weekend is Feb 22-23. Congrats! May I ask who your POI was at U of Houston?
alecno Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Congrats! May I ask who your POI was at U of Houston? Dr. Lisa Penney and Dr. Alan Witt.
phatlilpanda Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 FYI: DePaul sent out offers yesterday. Do you know how many offers they sent out? and if they've also sent out rejections? Cause I've gotten neither so that probably means I'm on a waitlist.. :/
BeingThere Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Dr. Lisa Penney and Dr. Alan Witt. Thanks. Congrats again! Sounds like you've gotten all interviews and offers so far, Alecno!
guagua Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Has anyone heard from USF, GeorgiaTech and VirginiaTech?
tanneraustin Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 (edited) I haven't heard anything. Not from them or from NCSU or from Virginia Tech. I've seen results posted for those schools, but not very many so it's hard to tell what's going on. Guess we'll just have to continue to wait and see! I'm an undergrad at Virginia Tech who's quite involved with the I/O professors there. They have extended offers to their interview weekend which is at the end of February. They choose from those people who to accept. Good luck! Edited February 9, 2014 by tanneraustin leSpyFox 1
tanneraustin Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 (edited) Has anyone heard from USF, GeorgiaTech and VirginiaTech? I've been told by a professor at Virginia Tech who did a postdoc at GT that they will extend offers in the next week or two. Edited February 9, 2014 by tanneraustin leSpyFox 1
snapcrackle Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 USF has already sent out invitations to Open House.
Qwerty101 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 USF has already sent out invitations to Open House do you know when they did this? like which day and time? snapcrackle 1
iopsychohmygerd Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 St. Louis University has sent out invitations to their visitation weekend! To Guagua, you were asking about Georgia Tech... I was recently told they were still reviewing applications. Fingers crossed! leSpyFox 1
guagua Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 I've been told by a professor at Virginia Tech who did a postdoc at GT that they will extend offers in the next week or two. Thank you tanneraustin! I am wondering if schools will extend invitations to international students (like me) because it is impractical to attend their interview weekend... Are admissions for domestic/international considered together or separately?
guagua Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 St. Louis University has sent out invitations to their visitation weekend! To Guagua, you were asking about Georgia Tech... I was recently told they were still reviewing applications. Fingers crossed! They have been reviewing applications for weeks...Good luck!!
snapcrackle Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 do you know when they did this? like which day and time? Last Monday, not sure about exact time. Open House is February 27-29. snapcrackle 1
snapcrackle Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Whaaa...that would be Feb 27-March 1 for USF's Open House. I has the Monday brain.
roebuck1 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Do you know how many offers they sent out? and if they've also sent out rejections? Cause I've gotten neither so that probably means I'm on a waitlist.. :/ They only offer spots to as many students as they're able to fund. The last few years that has only been three and they continued that trend this year. Ergo, they essentially do not have a waitlist at this point because three people have accepted. Anyone that is still waiting to hear back from DePaul can consider themselves a bust (myself included).
Winnieee Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Hello! It's my first time posting here and I am so excited to find out this place... I'd like to share some of my results with you all too.. USF - POI called me last Tuesday and told me I was admitted though not sure about funding yet.. Portland State - I was invited to their visiting weekend too and will go. UHouston - I was invited to visit but not sure if I will go cuz they didn't say if they will cover the flights.. Hope to see some of you guys at some of the schools.. Good luck everybody!!!
BeingThere Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Just got an acceptance from Central Michigan University. So, looks like they are starting to send out notifications.
alecno Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 (edited) Dr. Spector (USF) did not take a student this year unfortunately. They had 174 applicants. Have confirmed rejections are coming if you did not hear from them last week. Edited February 11, 2014 by alecno
tanneraustin Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 (edited) Thank you tanneraustin! I am wondering if schools will extend invitations to international students (like me) because it is impractical to attend their interview weekend... Are admissions for domestic/international considered together or separately? That's a good question. I'd imagine that they are considered together, but I'm not sure. Academics know the value of international students I'd imagine, so I doubt there would be any intended or unintended disadvantage given to them. Edited February 11, 2014 by tanneraustin
Thestaryeyedkidinallofus Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 This is such a nightmare, reading these posts ... God, I am just torturing myself haha. Ok, well I am done being melodramatic but I feel that I am not going to get any acceptances. Here are my stats. 1) Washington University in St. Louis - Rejected 2) Auburn University - Rejected 3) Central Michigan University - (Haven't heard back, even though others have) 4) University of South Florida - (Haven't heard back, even though others have) 5) Virginia Tech - (Haven't heard back, even though others have) 6) University of Houston - (Haven't heard back, even though others have) 7) Rice University - Haven't heard back. ? Claremont Graduate University - Haven't heard back 9) Clemson University - Haven't heard back. I feel like I should get ready to apply next year, this is disheartening. But I am very happy for all of you guys who got accepted and who got interviews, I wish you the best and you guys are the students that we should look to for inspiration. Best of luck on your future endeavors!!
iopsychohmygerd Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 When/how did auburn contact you to let you know you were rejected? I haven't heard back from them yet, and I just want to make sure I didn't simply miss their letter/email. Thanks! Don't give up hope yet, either. Did you get relatively good scores on the GRE? Do you feel pretty confident about your personal statement? Do you have some research experience under your belt? If the answer to any of these is yes, it could mean acceptance is right around the corner! My GPA was a mediocre 3.6. While my verbal GRE score was good, my quantitative scores were, again, mediocre/average (for Ph.D. programs). I didn't think anyone would take me, going into this process. If there's hope for me, there's certainly hope for anyone.
phatlilpanda Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Just got notified this morning from SUNY, Albany. They have had the strongest pool of applicants this year and I've been put on the waitlist. Crossing my fingers here!
