chiboi2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Is it me, or has the application process been a long series of waiting for xyz. No matter when on this year's calendar I have been, there has always been something I am waiting to hear from the school about. At this point I don't know what I would do if I wasn't waiting for an email or phone call. I knowwww! Now it's all about that $$$
123454321 Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Waitlisted at both SAIC and Columbia, anyone have any insight on what this process is like? Sort of assuming that means it's not happening this year given how competitive those programs seem to be. But first time applying so not sure what to expect moving forward.. Yale - Interviewed, rejected SAIC - Interviewed, waitlisted Columbia - Interviewed, waitlisted UT Austin - rejected

I hear of people getting off the waitlist pretty often- but it really depends. Both Columbia and SAIC are highly expensive programs- so some people who were accepted might decline if they get better financial offers elsewhere. Its really case by case. Last year I was waitlisted at Northwestern but since the program is fully funded and really small it didn't pan out. good luck!

Lila Adams Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 new york I would choose Baltimore. I have a similar choice. I chose the one with better people to work with. I know that different people have different financial situations, and that sometimes better money must trump the better program, but for me the better program wins. I have to choose between Hunter and Rutgers. Hunter is the better program, cheaper, and in New York, but I get zero funding. Rutgers is still a good program (or I would not have even applied) in New Brunswick (ugh), but they offered me amazing funding. Despite that, I think I'm going to Hunter. If Hunter had been as expensive, however, as Columbia or Yale or whatever, I would go with Rutgers, but since it is relatively inexpensive, I'm choosing Hunter. I can make it work without funding. I would evaluate the difference in price and then take into account that interest will probably double whatever you'll pay. MICA is a very good school. Have you talked to both programs about how they support you in the year or two after you graduate? Thanks guys, I sent an e-mail to the NYAA saying that I decline their offer, and they increased my scholarship.. It is such a difficult decision and I have to make it tomorrow...! the programs are so different too.. I think I decided on MICA, the difference in scholarship is not that high and the cost of living in Baltimore is lower so I guess it would even out.. Why can't I do both at the same time? or have two life times...
tdevo412 Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 So... No words from NYU... I'll be calling tomorrow at 12 after my mail person swings by. I know they seem to still be contacting everyone, but there is only ten spots for the program. I can't seem to cross my fingers any harder. I will also be declining my offers to both PAFA and SVA.
wellrespectedmanabouttown Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 First time poster here….. Has anyone here actually been accepted by NYU?
Lila Adams Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 (edited) Hi guys, this is a note for everyone who is still debating and for everyone who is considering re-applying next year! Both schools I was debating between sent me e-mails today that they approved my request for additional funding - one approved another 5,000 a year and the other 7,000 (in both cases the total sum was higher than what they post on their website as the maximum scholarship you can get!). This was great news for me. If you've been accepted to a school you wanted but with not enough funding, don't hesitate to ask for more! I think they all expect that and on many occasions they approve, at least some of the amount you ask for. If they don't you can still attend or decline, there is nothing to lose. Good luck to everyone with your applications and decisions Edited March 31, 2015 by Lila Adams Milkyways 1

Good luck to everyone with your applications and decisions I second this! I told a program last year that I couldn't attend because I couldn't afford it and they gave me an additional $8,000. (In the end it was still too expensive, because $42,000 a year is ridiculous for tuition), but in any case, it can work out if you just ask.

ac110 Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Any advice on requesting if you're already planning to attend, but you know it's going to be rough financially and any additional funding would be an incredible help? The wording of it is so... nervewracking.
0000000000 Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Last Thursday 3/26 well shit, sucks for me has anyone who interviewed received a notice of rejection yet?

photochick Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Did you talk to the the grad coordinator/contact person in the art department or someone in the financial aid office? I would also like to know! theskipper 1
belchert Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Received an email from Ohio University and I am on their waitlist! I also got this news. It feels super late in the game, I bet they'll be dealing with a lot of people having already accepted offers and will be accepting a few people off the waitlist.
Lila Adams Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Did you talk to the the grad coordinator/contact person in the art department or someone in the financial aid office? Hi Dryheat, I wrote to the contact persons in the admissions office. They contacted the financial aid dep.
wellrespectedmanabouttown Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Sorry to ask again, but has anyone actually been accepted to NYU yet? Or is everyone still waiting?
