I am so anxious for any news that I would even be excited for other people's news right about now. And yes, I know it is still too early.

Is it still too early ? When are most of these decisions made ?

I think most of what I've see in the search results are in february and march, some in january and april. We've already got some acceptances and rejections by now.

Someone got an interview at Stanford or something today.

I don't know. My earliest deadlines were UT-Austin (Jan. 1) and CU-Boulder (Jan. 7). From what I've seen on the results page for these two schools, I might get an interview around the last week of January or first week of February.

Oh really ? Are they masters or PhD ? My Stanford POI emailed me back and said that they are reviewing the applications. I'm applying for my masters

Masters programs probably decide later than PhD, since most people want funded PhD students and not funded masters.

I was told that most people who get their masters in a science don't pay usually. All the grad students at my school aren't paying anything. I would imagine that if a school can't found you then you won't be admitted.

I really hope I'm chosen for one at UT austin.

at least for skype, but I'm more than willing to ask for some days off at work to go to Austin or Houston (UH) for it.

Mine was a MSc. the other ones I don't remember, up in the main menu you can go to search results and then look for what you're looking for.

I've found that most of the results until now are for Geophysics programs.

That's not entirely true. Most PhDs are funded. There are a lot of masters programs that aren't. DU for example. They offer the chance to win fellowships, but there is no guaranteed funding. A lot of Masters programs that are oil related aren't funded.

I just emailed all of them (including the two that didn't respond) that I submitted my app and that if they have any questions please let me know

I emailed my poi's to let them know I submitted and to thank them for all the materials and time they gave me throughout the fall

I also applied to Rice, when did you hear from them ?

Well I got an email from my POI at Virginia Tech who said that since he hasn't heard from the committee that it's unlikely I was recommended. He said that they have very few TA positions and he's unlikely to take new students. Did anybody here apply to VT ?

Thank you. Now to wait again and see if I make it.

Yes, haven't heard anything.

Did you make contact with your POI ? What are your stats if I may ask ?

I did about two weeks ago letting them know I applied, my stats are posted on the bottom of the first page.

I got an email with an official acceptance letter on the 14th

Does this stuff actually come in the mail? I expect to see everything in email.

Maybe for close acceptances.

Offical letters (from the graduate school not department) often come in the mail, but usually unoffical is email.

I called up the department they said that the applications are still in review and that they haven't made any final decisions yet. She also told me that she thinks my application wasn't reviewed yet.
