Has anyone heard anything from USF? During the interview weekend they mentioned that candidates should know by Feb 14. I am holding onto a tiny piece of hope that they still have to call people regarding acceptances!

Can't help you, but if they gave you a firm date you can feel free to call/email them!

Faculty in Adelphi's MA program mentioned their interview day was 3/6 and to expect to hear word by February 20. I'm sure with the snow things may have been pushed back. Just a heads up! Anyone else constantly checking their email?!

PSA: NASP Conference is this week, so you may not hear much for the rest of the week! Everyone is partying it up down in Florida! ;)

So I was reading about Fordham on the NASP page and came across them saying the Bilingual track for Specialist degree is "Conditional Approval"; Is that bad? Should I be worried? (But on Fordham's site they said it is fully approved)

http://www.nasponline.org/resources/culturalcompetence/programs/fordham.aspx

Fordham updated their website and the information/description about the Bi.P.D program is kind of vague or rather confusing. It says working with bilingual children & families, If i interpret that correctly, the degree is limited to working with elementary school children. I was wondering if it's possible to practice in middle and/or high school like working with youth. But it also said: "Each practicum requires the student to complete approximately 150 hours at an off campus site (i.e., school) learning and honing their skills in consultation, counseling and assessment of children and adolescents."

I actually have an interview next week for the specialist program (not bilingual though). If anyone touches upon this, I'll let you know! Or you could always email faculty and inquire..

in other news, I got word of another interview invite! Long Island University: Brooklyn campus. Their program is not recognized by NASP, but it was my backup in case I didn't get in anywhere else..

So if it follows the guidelines of NASP but isn't formally approved program (eg. a Canadian program) can you still get a job as a school psychologist in the USA?

You have to meet the standard set by the state you want to practice in. I was told that it is easier to go from U.S. to Canada rather than the other way around, as the Americans are more stringent.

Late to the party, but is anyone interviewing at Rutgers next week? I'm so excited!

This question is for those who have already had an interview this year or previous years:

I was invited for an interview at at a school about 250 miles from my house. It is my top choice so I want to do everything possible to make a good impression. I have several options on getting to the interview. The interview is a group one. My first option is to fly there and back in the same day. The second is to drive there, leaving in the early morning and stay the night of the interview and drive back the next day. The third is to fly up and stay the night of the interview and fly home the next day. Unfortunately, because of work, I have to go up the day of the interview. Ideally, because of time and money, I would prefer the first option but am hesitant as the interview is from 2-6p and I would have to leave the interview to go to the airport no later than 6:30p. In others experiences, does anything happen immediately after the group interview, ie dinner or other social activities or is the time the invite says it will be over when it ends? If there is an after-interview activity and I miss it, would that hurt my chances?

Thank you for any/all replies. I'm probably over thinking this but was so excited to be asked to interview that I literary cried happy tears when I received the email.

I have a visitation day for a program I have been offered admission to on March 6th-- I already responded that I will be attending (it's my local university). I just received a last-minute interview invitation that I am fairly interested in checking out (it's an EdS instead of PhD so I'm not 100% sold) but it is on that same March 6th date. Any opinions as to what I should do?

So I have been admitted to a PhD program, and I admit I do not know much about funding. If the information was not included in the initial acceptance letter, will that come later? Is there a specific timeline as to when they let people know (as in, before April 15) ?

oh and good luck everyone on their interviews! :)

It varies by school and you should definitely ask someone about it. Some schools will start contacting you with things right away and others will wait until you accept their offer. You need to figure out which way this school does things. One of the awesome things about the school I now attend is that they were sending me info about them trying to secure me funding. Like, "would you be interested in this or this?" while other schools would just forward general funding opportunities that you had to apply for yourself (that were most often unrelated to school psych).

Short and sweet: is it rude to withdraw from an interview I've already accepted? It's the first weekend of March.

I did this. A school moderately high on my list got back to me very quickly after the Dec. 1 deadline. I committed to their interview. My top school offered me an interview a week later (the interview date was the same day), so I withdrew from the original commitment and went to my top pick. The first school was not upset, but then again I withdrew for "personal reasons." Need not specify a reason if you do not have to.

In sum, "rude" or not, I would make the decision that best benefits you.

Hi everyone,

I recently attended an Interview Day that consisted of an interview session with two faculty members, another session with a graduate student, and a campus tour. After, I emailed the faculty members and thanked them for the interview. I also wanted to email the graduate student (who interviewed me and also provided the campus tour), but I did not have his email address. I searched online, but his contact information did not seem to be available anywhere. Finally, I found his contact information through his university's online directory.

My question is - is it appropriate for me to email the grad student who interviewed me? Or does the fact that I had to search so extensively for his contact information make me seem like a bit of a stalker?

I know this is kind of a silly question. It is very possible that I am simply overthinking all of this, but I can't figure this out and figured I would ask here. :)

Thank you!

Sure, email him! You could have gotten it from the faculty - I wouldn't think it out of the ordinary at all.

Thanks! I took your advice and contacted that grad student. :)

I just received a letter from one of the programs that I applied to, congratulating me on my admission to the program. Unfortunately, however, I know that the letter was sent in error because the interview day for this program isn't until next week. Has anyone here had a similar experience? Thanks!

Hi everyone!

I'm interested in the EdS program and have recently received interviews for all 3 schools that I applied for -- The Ohio State University (March 6), University of Cincinnati (March 7), and University of Dayton (Feb 28). I want to stay in Ohio, if you haven't noticed haha. But anyway, I was wondering if anyone has any advice for my upcoming interview. The most recent one is this coming Saturday and I am starting to freak out a little bit! All my interviews are happening within a one week period and it's just now starting to hit me.

My first choice is University of Cincinnati, if anyone knows anything about that program I would greatly appreciate any tips!

Same here. I contacted the department initially and was told that I would know 6-8 weeks from the deadline of December 1. January 26 marked 8 weeks. I contacted them on February 2 (9 weeks since deadline) and was told that faculty was still reviewing applications. Hmmm, it's interesting to me that it is taking so long, and actually concerns me a bit about the overall functioning of the program. Do you know anyone in the program or have you heard anything (positive or negative) related to the program?

Has anyone heard from Ohio State PhD?

They should have sent out invitations for interviews by Feb 12th for both the EdS and PhD programs!

It may not be an error! Contact them on Monday and ask. :)
