Organometallics Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 hmmm, looks like Harvard has sent out its acceptances. Does this mean that all accetances from CCB department have been sent out? I am an international student.. I'd wait until the start of the weekend. They may stagger acceptances over a few days like Caltech did. I am still hopeful. If not, it at least makes my decision a little bit easier. Congrats to everyone accepted already!
emeliano Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Yesssssssssssss! Another acceptance! University of.......(wait for it!).......Florida! Yes! University of Florida :D lasermad, SunnygirlDiana and TOTOROX 3
camsarm Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 I am also skeptical about Columbia. I thought acceptances usually go into early February
zifn Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 (edited) Edit: the question was answered already... reading is hard... Edited January 29, 2015 by zifn
BiochemMom Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 I know GA Tech tends to send out notices beginning February all the way through March. I have several friends in that program and none were waitlisted and all received notices in that range. The latest I personally know was 2nd week of March but that doesn't necessarily mean that's the last week obviously. TOTOROX 1
zifn Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Wow, I guess I should have expected that from GT considering how late the application was due but still that's late especially considering that we've been hearing back from several schools like UW-madison and UT-Austin to name a few.
Synthetic Happiness Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Just got the Stanford acceptance vis e-mail! TOTOROX and lasermad 2
Hijojo Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Aaaaand I'm officially done with application season - I decided to withdraw my application from UC Irvine since I don't plan on attending there after my other acceptances. I'm excited for visiting weekends, as busy as that month will be. After having so much trouble job hunting, it's nice to have some choices finally. TOTOROX and lasermad 1 1
AnubisGate Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 Thanks Northwestern! I'm getting drunk tonight to deal with my sorrows. Hats off to you. I wonder if I'll get in anywhere...hmmm...
Maxtini Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 (edited) Just like what I thought~ top programs have finalised their decisions and other schools began sending out offers. Rejected from Northwestern, Admission offer from Arizona State. Excited! Edited January 31, 2015 by Maxtini
epinephrine Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 I'm still waiting on UIUC and Cornell. Does anyone have info on whether they're done yet?
closetchem Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 Just like what I thought~ top programs have finalised their decisions and other schools began sending out offers. Rejected from Northwestern, Admission offer from Arizona State. Excited! Who are you interested in at ASU? I did my undergrad there. And I received acceptances from non-top programs before anything from top 10 programs, so I doubt that programs wait for each other to send out acceptances. My guess is it depends on what conferences/committee meetings/vacations/and classes the members have as to when they actually meet.
Maxtini Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 (edited) It's just my observation from past year's result though, because top programs were the ones to send admission/rejection first (mostly) follow by the others. I'm interested in Prof. Guo's work, but it seems his group is still new, don't know how is the prospect there. How is the university life there? Edited January 31, 2015 by Maxtini
Erie_Chemist Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 Has anyone gotten into U Chicago? All I'm seeing is rejection from the windy city. Also, anything from Case Western or U Buffalo? AND SCRIPPS?!
lasermad Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 It seems like Harvard has started sending out rejections...
SunnygirlDiana Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 It seems like Harvard has started sending out rejections... Haha yeah that was my post... I emailed their graduate program administrator for CCB and she said that she already informed all applicants that were accepted. So anyone who hasnt heard back yet was rejected, unfortunately. I think she mentioned the rejection letters will go out around mid Feb though. lasermad 1
andyyy Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 Rejected from UCI and OSU today To be honest, I am really disappointed about UCI
andyyy Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 (edited) Is anybody else visiting UCLA (3/12-3/14) or UFlorida (3/26-3/28)? Edited January 31, 2015 by andyyy

I never interacted with Guo so unfortunately I can't help you out there. Much of ASU's chemistry and biochemistry research strength is in alternative energy, hence the Center for bioenergy and photosynthesis. There are some really good PIs and some others to stay clear of, the chemistry undergraduates are a good group of students that want to learn and go the extra mile, some of that can be said for the biochem students but you get a lot of pre-med in that group. Tempe is a relatively low cost of living, its warm and sunny all year round which is great for biking to campus, and there is a lot of things to do throughout the valley. Overall, its a fun place to be with some really interesting research but you really need to be sure you're interested in the overall research that is going on there otherwise you will not be happy.

Thanks for the information~ How about Prof. Ghirlanda and Prof. Chaput? Their groups seems to be quite productive and nice~
Bigronnie Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 Does anyone know about Columbia? Someone said all acceptances are already out but I just saw 3 people getting accepted so far...
ElDudeBrothers14111 Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 Does anyone know about Columbia? Someone said all acceptances are already out but I just saw 3 people getting accepted so far... Might just be that the people who got in don't use/know about gradcafe? I'm not sure how many people they admitted, maybe the class size is small...

GODDAMMIT just give me a reject if that's what it is, you know? :/ I know! The wait for these acceptance or rejection letters is even harder than the applications! I wish I could get a "hey, we're kinda looking at you" or "hey, we liked your application and you've got a 1 in a million chance".
