usernamehere2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 If other people are receiving calls to schedule an interview at a school that I applied to and I am not, does this mean that I am most likely rejected?
Chandru1 Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 The optimist in me is saying that I am not outright rejected; they're just scheduling interviews for their top students first, and if there is space available, they'll schedule one for me.
Arcanelady27 Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Not necessarily some schools work in waves in letting applicants know
neucool Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Some schools have multiple waves of interviews, or notify in waves like Arcanelady said.
Liz113 Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 And then some schools don't interview at all, so I wouldn't worry yet.
SLPosteriorCricoarytenoid Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 (edited) Also, some people who aren't invited to the official interviews get acceptances. Some programs will accept people right off the waitlist when their top (interviewed) applicants go elsewhere. Edited February 14, 2015 by neuronparty
twinguy7 Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 To be honest, If it is a school that has interviews as a part of their decision making process, then most likely for now they have passed on your application. Every school looks for different things. The hardest thing for me and every applicant is to not take things personal. There will be schools that value those attributes that you possess and they will be the lucky ones who accept you for an interview, a wait list or an outright acceptance.
Holly44 Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 I wouldn't be too worried yet! I know of some people that were accepted without getting interviewed for the same program that others had to do interviews for. This is just speculation on my part, but I would assume that the people getting selected for interviews are in the "maybe pile," and the universities will accept those they are impressed by. Keep your head up!
jpiccolo Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 All I can say is I know my undergrad school only interviews a certain number for admission. If you aren't interviewed you are rejected. But idk that every school is like that, especially since everyone finds out at the same time whether or not they are interviewed (at my school).
