Oregon Schools 2015

Recommended Posts

I was told by a PSU faculty member that they were hoping to get offers out around their spring break which starts March 23rd. I would guess they would want to get them out before so they don't have to deal with that over break. I was told CSDCAS had not verified some people academic update which was a major part of the delay. Thanks CSDCAS, good think you charged us $100 :P

Thanks. :-)

I was notified by email the last week of February from the program's director, and received the formal acceptance letter March 5th. I'm sure it's program by program.

Grrr. I called Portland State and they said they are hoping to get letters sent out by the end of the month... I'm worried that having to wait for their response might impact me because I have to mail in my acceptance of admission if I choose to go to UNM (rather than email) and that only gives me 2 weeks before the deadline and I would be sooo mad if something happened with mail getting lost or something and I ended up missing my chance.... I want to accept my admission at UNM now but my fiance is very set on waiting to hear from PSU first :-/

I was waitlisted at Pacific and I don't think there wilbe any movement until Portland State sends out notification (I know at least 6 people at PSU who were accepted into Pacific's 35 person cohort and also applied at Portland State).  I'm a postbac at PSU and one of the professors on the committee said there were 700 applications this year. So that could be the reason for delay. That's alotta people, yo.

That is crazy about PSU. Any idea why they have soooo many people applying? I have basically ruled out any chance of getting accepted and have other great offers but I still just kinda wanna know.

They're HOPING to get them out by the end of the month?!   I love how students have to get them in by a certain date and schools don't even begin looking at them for months! No biggie, not like we're all waiting around for a huge life-changing decision...  <_<

So true! I hope I don't have to do this all over again next year.

PSU is my first choice. Knowing that there were 700 applications makes me very nervous. :/ I guess only time will tell.

I don't mean to add any nervousness - sorry! I understand there were between 4-500 applicants to Pacific this year. Oregon is a popular spot, it turns out :). As for funding, I don't know/haven't heard anything about funding, and I hear a lot of things...

Yea, I don't think 700+ people is unusual for high for a university in Oregon. But that doesn't mean there are 700+ qualified applicants.

Normally I'd agree with you, but it is more than double than they received last year so it still seems unusual to me. Although it could just be a sign of how competitive the field is getting every year.

Oh wow! Double is a lot. I think I remember hearing that 700+ was the number of people who applied for the UO last year. Of course, that was a year ago, so I could be wrong. 4-500 applicants is a lot! Holy smokes!

Well I was referring to Portland State having double the amount. According to EdFind, UO only received 142 applications last year, but that seems super low to me so who knows? I don't even know if the stats on there are accurate. lol  :)
