Was too broke to make applications and that school was my perfect fit. This is very risky, I thought I am too poor to be shut out this year, hence I must maximize my chance of getting admission by applying to many schools, even if it means borrowing money. Congratulations though, it seems like you chose wisely!

I know it sounds too unprofessional -- but the end result is good as I made into one of the top 20 schools in the world and Australia's no. 1 -- So I would say, ''High risk high return!'' yasir8959 and PoliPixie

Thanksfully, I got it in! Congrats to you! kaneross
CarefreeWritingsontheWall
Ah there's that Harvard rejection. Only one left - so ready to know my final result! Congrats to those who applied to one program and got in. I really wish I had been able to do that - I wouldn't call it crazy. This is the first time I applied with a wide net. I originally intended to apply narrowly, but it backfired on me two years ago when I only applied out to three programs beyond my alma mater and I didn't get in anywhere. I was strongly encouraged to apply to more than 5 programs - at one point I had a list of 12 schools but I dropped to 8 when I crunched numbers and considered fit. I ultimately didn't want to apply anywhere I wouldn't go if I only got into that one program. I just finished paying off my VISA with my accumulated application fee and Christmas debt from December actually. Luckily it didn't take me as long as I expected. linp4
I received an offer from Georgetown via email on March. 4. It says more details will be out soon. I have been trying to figure out their funding details. Does anyone know if you can live on their assistantship/stipend?

I don't know if that is the case for everyone though. DC's cost of living is fairly high, but I know that another DC school provides stipends of only $22k, and the students there seem to be getting by alright. You just may not be able to live very close to the school.

CarefreeWritingsontheWall
Do you know if the GU March 15th results are their last 'wave' of admits along with rejections? Has there been any mention of an open house? If I don't hear something today I just might pull my hair out.

I suspect that those of us who haven't heard anything yet are on an informal wait list of sorts and on the 15th a large number of rejects will go out with a smaller number being moved to an official wait list with maybe 1 or 2 receiving an offer if anyone has declined so far. This is just my speculation though.

Thanks! Depends on what you consider good or bad, I assume The offer I got was $17,488.00 as a 5-year assistantship, meaning it comes tied to about 20 hours of work per week. Additionally $5,000 for the first summer. I was told that it's apparently just about enough to get by in College Park. However, it's considerably less than most other offers I received. finalsenator

Living in the DC area here, it can definitely get expensive. If you were to move to the area I would suggest the Silver Spring MD area as prices arent awful for what you get if you split an apartment. There is a complex called Summit Hills that you can get a cheap (relatively speaking) apartment with a bunch of amenities and all utilities covered. Not trying to make a sales pitch just offering some advice if you or anyone is looking to move to the DC metro area
